What exactly are fossil fuels?

Fossil fuels are things like coal and oil that we burn to make energy. They were formed millions of years ago, and are some of most important natural resources. Fossil fuels are known as nonrenewable resources, which means we don’t have an endless supply and it takes a long time to make them ,millions of years.

What is coal? Coal is a fossil fuel. That means that it was once organic matter,

whose form has been drastically changed by temperature and pressure over millions of years.

Coal is made up of ancient, prehistoric plants that thrived in swamps. When these plants died, they were deposited in oxygen-poor environments, which prevented them from decomposing.

There are three main grades of coal: lignite, bituminous and anthracite. Coal starts as lignite, then changes to bituminous, and then finally becomes anthracite. Anthracite is dense, hard and shiny. 

Wy is coal important in mozambique

Tete, in central Mozambique, was for a long time a forgotten province. Since large coal deposits were discovered, the region has attracted many who hope they can get rich fast.

Just a few years ago, there were four banks in Tete, by 2011 there were 15.

Mozambique currently produces only a minor amount of coal. However, major global mining companies such as Vale and Rio Tinto are developing major coking coal export projects which could make Mozambique one of the world's major coal exporters.

What is a coal mining?

There are two types of mining methods: Surface Mining and Underground Mining.

Surface mining is done when the coal is less than 200 feet below the ground. 

Giant machines like bulldozers, bucket excavators, and large trucks remove the topsoil and rocks to expose large beds of coal. After the coal is mined, they replace the dirt and rocks and replant the area with seed and trees. 

Underground mining is done when the coal is more than 200 feet below the surface. Some mines can go as deep as 1,000 feet below the ground! Deep mine shafts are built and carry miners and digging equipment into the mineshaft to dig out the coal and bring it to the surface.

To make this model we used craft paper glue, nails, Wood sticks, a metalic net as a base for the structure, paint a glass and buttons.

first we made the rail road with the sticks, we meassure with a ruler to put the correct number of sticks.

While it was drying we put the net to make the structure we secure it with nails, then we wraped it with craft paper and glue.

Then we made the mine shaft, that we need to correct with more bricks on the road so the car can move.
