E FORMULA POMOCA SWISS MADE

For more than 80 years, the best athletes in the world as well as top guides and mountain rescuers have trusted POMOCA skins.

Pomoca skins have gained global recognition over the past decade, thanks to innovations such as Safer Skin (100% waterproof), GLIDE (anti glopping and gliding treatment) and Race (the fastest skins ever made). Pomoca textile engineers continue to apply and advance this knowledge, resulting in further technological advances and an ever better product.

In the pages that follow, you will discover the technological secrets that allow for faster gliding and better GRIP.

Formula POMOCAThis is where the requirement profiles for the RACE, CLIMB and FREE operational ranges originated. Our research indicates that

each target group requires different GRIP and GLIDE characteristics. POMOCA met these requirements with a clearly structured skin

development program aimed at meeting individual mountaineers‘ requirements. POMOCA‘s range of colors is emblematic of these

requirement profile characteristics. As a result of these efforts,

POMOCA has expanded its role as a climbing skin world leader by advancing ski mountaineering innovation.

RS Jérémie Heitz

I started skiing very early at the age of 2. After a long record in alpine skiing, I naturally moved to freeriding. Lucky to be born in the Swiss Alps, I have one of the most beautiful and wild playgrounds at my disposal where I have trained myself so far.

Pomoca reflects the ideal partner to quickly reach the mountains that I want to ski in this alpine setting.

Having used Pomoca skins for some years now to reach isolated places, I noticed that regardless of the type of snow, the skins adhere perfectly and occupy very little space in my backback. Really handy!

Awards:

· Freeride World Tour 2014: 3rd place

I want to ski“

Kilian JornetI grew up in a mountain lodge, located at 2,000 meters above sea level, in the Catalan Pyrenees where mountains were always my playground. I was introduced to outdoor activities at a young age, and I quickly developed a passion for mountain sports along with a natural aptitude for adventure and physical challenges, which has increased with experience.

My love for mountains and passion for overcoming challenges has led me to sponsor the Summits of My Life project, a series of mountain challenges all over the world.

In the winter, I trust the quality of Pomoca skins because of their GLIDE and GRIP when conquering a mountain summit.

Awards:

· Seven-time winner of the Skyrunner World Series

· Three-time winner of Pierra Menta ski mountaineering competition

· Four-time winner of the mountain ski individual World Cup

· Four-time Vertical Race world champion

The technologies of POMOCA are based on a deep understanding of snow, enhanced by research and development. Textile engineers and chemists work hand-in-hand with mountain guides and athletes. Together they modify the materials‘ contact surfaces and thus push the effectiveness of climbing skins to unimaginable heights.

New technology

SAFER SKINSafety through waterproofness

With the development of the exclusive

POMOCA Safer Skin technology, a new ski

skin generation is born. All POMOCA self-

adhesive skins benefit from this special

treatment. Composed of an added 100 %

waterproof membrane positioned between

the weaving and the glue, Safer Skin offers

ultimate safety thanks to the stability of the

glue, optimum gluing of the skin and easy

folding thanks to good stability.

EVER DRYAnti-glopping treatment

Due to its exclusive anti-glopping properties,

Ever Dry treated skins have been the

favorite choice of long distance ski tourers

for many years. The entire length of every

skin is treated with Ever Dry technology,

guaranteeing life-long protection and no

need for spray treatment. All POMOCA skins

feature Ever Dry technology.

GLIDESuperior gliding performance

POMOCA GLIDE technology offers enhanced

performance with every stride. With less

effort, ski tourers achieve exceptional gliding

performance. Only available on some models.

GRIPSafe GRIP when climbingIt is important to have a good GRIPping ability

when climbing. POMOCA has therefore de-

veloped a special material combination that

shows both durability and dynamic tension

and combines high elasticity with resistance

to twisting and abrasion. Available with the

series Climb and Free.

What is a skin?

3. ...WITH A LINING... The lining prevents water transfer from the plush to the adhesive. A lining that is not waterproof causes damp on the adhesive and reduces its tack (stickiness). The adhesive could come away from the skin and stick to the ski. A quality lining guarantees the correct functioning of the adhesive and also increases resistance to the skin tearing.

1. A PLUSH WITH ANGELED FIBERS...The plush offers GRIP and GLIDE to the skin. These

characteristics vary depending on the material used

(nylon, mixed or mohair) and the way the fibers are woven

(thicker or thinner, longer or shorter, more or less angled).

Normally, a skin that GLIDEs more, GRIPs less

2. ...SUBJECT TO VARIOUS TECHNICAL TREATMENTS...These treatments provide waterproofing for fibers, which is key to preventing snow clumps from forming. Wet fibers can freeze with a change in temperature. When the fibers freeze they attract snow which sticks to the skin, forming clumps. It also gives the colour to the skins and helps with fixing the fibers to the angle/backing, which is why it is important for durability and GLIDE/GRIP.

4. ...AND AN ADHESIVEThe adhesive attaches the skin to the ski. In cold and

wet conditions, adhesion may be difficult: in general, the

adhesives do not perform well in water or cold, as it is

harder for them to stick in a wet environment (mist or heat

in spring/damp snow) or in the cold.

TIPO

NYour journey in the mountains starts with an enjoyable uphill ride: Tipon makes it easier!

TIPON

The new TIPON membrane technology is based on the latest generation of polysiloxanes. Combining two types of induction (a membrane and an adhesive) directly on the fabric brings about great performance properties, such as 100% waterproof and high quality gluing, while keeping the climbing skin simple and light weight.

Innovative performance and technical excellence make TIPON a revolutionary membrane technology. Climbing skins with TIPON tend to be more compact and easier to use due to novel characteristics that push the boundaries of existing gluing and membrane technologies. From 100% waterproofness to UV and extreme temperatures resistance, TIPON takes a step forward in offering safety and comfort at the same time.

Page 13: CLIMBING SKINS

12 13

Product characteristicsThe POMOCA skin with TIPON technology is the thinnest and lightest skin on the market. It is very easy to use: with a washable adhesive, it does not need regluing and

it is not sensitive to heat and UV.

TIPON Technologies

The new TIPON membrane offers an excellent performance at several levels: · 100% waterproof. The membrane completely seals the surface of the plush. · No delamination risk: perfect mechanical coupling plush - membrane. · Perfect skin trimming: No fraying effect. · Light weight: 50% lighter than any other classic membrane. · Packable: 40% less volume than a classic skin model

The new TIPON adhesive offers high performance: · No glue delamination risk: perfect chemical coupling membrane – adhesive. · Extreme temperature resistant: No risk of freezing. · Washable: it can be hand washed with water and soap. · UV resistant: it can be exposed to the sun and heating. · No need to reglue. The adhesive is durable.

The TIPON membrane and the TIPON adhesive merge together with the plush in one unit: a reliable and easy to use climbing skin.

The skin with TIPON technology is available only in mix (70% mohair / 30% nylon); plush with GLIDE treatment (such as CLIMB PRO GLIDE skins). It exists in a unique width of 123mm.

The new TIPON membrane technology is based on the latest generation of polysiloxanes. Combining two types of coating (a membrane and an adhesive) directly on the fabric brings about great performance properties, such as 100% waterproof and high quality gluing, while keeping the climbing skin simple and light weight.

RACE PROGLIDE forever POMOCA RACE PRO skins owe their success to the finest, hand-selected raw materials and the new GLI-DE RACE treatment. This formula, a POMOCA trade secret, has been achieved through a lengthy testing and selection process. The result: a race skin with re-volutionary quality and performance. All the more rea-son why POMOCA RACE PRO is the first choice of the ski mountaineering world elite.

RACE PRO TIPONSame GLIDE, less weight, less

volume

With the same properties as the skin RACE PRO, the skin RACE PRO TIPON removes the membrane minimizing weight and lowering the packing size.  TIPON, a new technology that offers better GRIP performances especially in cold conditions.   All this with less volume and minimum weight.

Y Since 1870, when they imported their first models to the French-speaking region of Switzerland, the history of the Dufour Family has been linked to tourism and the development of skiing. The family also organized ski excursions and competitions for the prestigious hosts of Montreux in Switzerland.

In the 1930s, Eric Dufour, an engineer with a passion for sports, and especially for high mountain skiing, developed and marketed the “DULFOUR-GAILLARD” rescue sled. Light and compact enough to carry in a backpack, this cloth sled allowsan injured person to be taken to the nearest shelter thanks to its skis and poles. Eric Dufour developed the production of non-slip skins, and later adhesive skins, making use of his technical knowledge and his experience as a hiker.

With the help of his wife, he directed the company until his death in 1988. His son, Guy Dufour, took over as manager in 1996. In February 2011, POMOCA joined the SALEWA Group, turning a new page in its history and setting out to reach new goals.

As the Swiss specialist in adhesive ski skins, POMOCA has been known for more than 75 years for the excellent quality of its products and its technological innovations. Always seeking to move forward, the brand is a clear leader in the industry today.

POMOCA is constantly developing new products, from accessories to innovative concepts, to improve handling and bring pleasure and satisfaction to ski mountaineering lovers.
