Classroom Technology Policies & Procedures
Cox Mill High 2016-2017
1:1 TECHNOLOGY● Each device has a number● You will be assigned a device
number (for accountability and device safety purposes)
● You can ONLY use your assigned device
● Each cart should have rosters showing who the devices are assigned to
All Labels Must Stay On Your Device
● Labels are used to identify and track devices for appropriate use, warranty, inventory, repairs, and liability
● Do not pick at or remove labels from your device
● If you notice your label is coming off or peeling up, let your teacher know so we can get it replaced
No Food, Drinks, Or Water Near Devices● Food, drinks, and even water bottles should be placed on the floor or on a
designated table or counter when using devices● Accidents happen so let’s do what we can to minimize them
Do Not Tamper With Or Damage Your Device
● Do not remove the keys from the keyboard they are very difficult to repair
● Banging on your keyboard or trackpad can damage them and cause them to not work properly
Computer Settings● DO NOT modify your computer settings
Use Your Headphones Carefully● When removing your headphones
from the device, grab as close to the device as possible and carefully pull in line with the device
● Jerking your headphones out can cause the plug to break off in the device
Device Safety at Your Desk● Device should always be on a
hard, flat surface such as a table, counter, or desk
● Notebooks, folders, books, etc. should always be beside the device, never underneath
● Place the device towards the center of surface
● Device should never hang off of the edge of a desk
Carrying Devices● Never carry your laptop with the
lid open● Do not carry your device by the
lid● If it falls there is an increased risk
of internal damage● You are also more likely to drop it
should you bump it someone or something
● Use two hands when carrying your carrying your device
Closing Your Device● Always make sure there are no
objects on your keyboard before closing your device
● Closing your device with a pencil or other object will crack the screen
Student Technology EthicsSTUDENTS SHOULD NOT:
● Install or download programs on school devices from the Internet or from flash drives● Use the Internet for personal reasons while in school like checking non- school related
email or instant messaging/chatting● Try alternative ways to access sites on the Internet that are blocked by the CCS
filter● Log in to the computer as another user or give out their username and password● View, delete, share, open, or modify files that do not belong to them● Tamper with or modify any equipment● Visit web sites for gaming, shopping, or other non-school related reasons● Remove labels from school devices
Student Technology EthicsSTUDENTS SHOULD:
● Abide by copyright guidelines when creating projects● Notify a teacher or the Technology Facilitator if the computer or other technology
equipment is not working correctly so that it can be fixed● Be sure that all work done will be school appropriate● Do their best to take care of the technology equipment they use● Use the Internet for the purposes of researching for and completing school projects
