Deze smartphone met Optic Internet legt een digitale laag met
extra informatie over het camerabeeld van de telefoon. De
applicatie zelf heet Layar.
De techniek is gebaseerd op location based services en maakt
gebruik van de camera, GPS en het kompas van de Samsung
Galaxy. Bij het opstarten van de Layar-applicatie gaat de camera
automatisch aan. De GPS van de mobiele telefoon weet waar
men zich bevindt en het kompas weet in welke richting de
gebruiker kijkt.
Met één druk op het scherm wisselt de gebruiker eenvoudig
tussen de verschillende layers. Als je rondkijkt door de lens, zie je
realtime de benzinestations in de buurt in beeld, de populaire
spots van Hyves en de huizen die op Funda te koop staan. Als je
vervolgens inzoomt op een woning, verschijnt een foto en de
verkoopprijs op het scherm. Nog één keer drukken en je hebt de
makelaar aan de lijn.
Verder staan exclusief op de Samsung Galaxy de layers van IENS,
Buienradar en Samsung Search by ilocal. In de Samsung Search
by ilocal vind je de meest populaire hotspots, namelijk bioscopen,
cafe’s, fastfood restaurants, hotels, pinautomaten en Samsung
verkooppunten.
