Drafted first impression appellate brief, appellate motion for reconsideration, Daubert motion, brief in opposition to change of venue, and various discovery related motions. Researched using WestLaw, LexisNexis and other resources. Most recently, prepared lead attorney for oral argument before Georgia Court of Appeals.

Advised and represented low-income taxpayers in federal tax matters. Analyzed clients’ legal and financial situations to develop courses of action. Drafted offers-in-compromise. Corresponded with IRS agents and collections officers to place taxpayers in currently not collectible status, create installment agreements and resolve audits. Successfully settled approximately $35,000 debt for $45.

City of Parma, Law Department Law Clerk

Researched city ordinances, state statutes and case law regarding such matters as special tax assessments, various zoning issues, nuisances, homestead rule, civil service qualifications, and political speech, and communicated findings either verbally or via official executive summaries. Drafted a successful appellate brief defending the city from a wrongful termination claim and a trial brief defending an officer in a use of force claim. Drafted a motion in opposition to a criminal defendant’s pretrial motion to dismiss. Drafted an MOU between the Southwest Emergency Response Team and the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District. Brainstormed creative, non-legal solutions to city disputes. Brought the city’s complaint procedure into legal compliance.
