Professional Experience CDMG, Canonsburg, PA 06/2012-03/2016

Design Engineer IIMy main responsibilities included structural analysis and design of industrial structures including new buildings, building additions, equipment foundations, pipe supports, and water treatment tanks. Most of the clients were in the steel, glass, and water treatment industries. I acted as the lead engineer on many projects and was responsible for distributing tasks among myself, other engineers, drafters, and designers. I assisted in producing construction documents. I provided post-engineering services including shop drawing review, responding to RFIs, and approving contractor substitutions. I also developed proposals and engineering/construction estimates. Finally, I visited job sites to gain additional field information and to meet with clients directly and address their needs. I was the main point of contact for several of our clients.

ZMM Architects and Engineers, Charleston, WV 09/2009-06/2012Structural EngineerI was the engineer of record for commercial structures including schools, office buildings, hospitals, and department of defense structures. I was responsible for all aspects of structural design for steel, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber structures. I produced all structural construction documents for my projects. Additionally, I provided post-design services including shop drawing review, approving contractor substitutions, and responding to RFIs. Finally, I performed site visits to gather field dimensions and information.

CDI Engineering Solutions, Charleston, WV 06/2006-09/2009Structural EngineerCDI’s main base of clients was in the chemical and petrochemical industries. I was responsible for structural analysis and design of platforms, new buildings, building additions, equipment foundations, and pipe supports. I occasionally assisted in editing and producing construction documents. I also visited job sites to gather field dimensions, assist with surveying, and meet with clients. Finally, I was responsible for reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and performing engineering estimates.

West Virginia Department of Highways, Charleston, WV 01/2003-06/2006Staff EngineerI worked for the maintenance department which was responsible for the state’s bridge inspection program and issuing permits for oversized and overweight vehicles. My main responsibilities were reviewing bridge inspection reports, analyzing and load rating existing bridges, and assisting district personnel. I often used inspection reports to load rate bridges for new conditions including damage and deterioration. I also analyzed bridges for overweight vehicles. I worked with many different types of bridges including steel girder, pre-stressed beams, steel trusses, and timber decks. I acted as the liaison between my department and the company that produced our custom load rating software. I worked in the state’s central office and was also responsible for assisting each state district with complex analysis situations and providing analysis software training.
