Began with the Water/Wastewater Utility, then known as Public Utilities Department, in March, 1988. That Department merged with JEA in 1997.

Spent the first 20 years working directly in, or managing, the design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure, both onsite and offsite, in support of residential and commercial developments.

In 2008 moved to Water/Wastewater Grid Operations and Maintenance area overseeing repair and rehab contracts.

In 2011 moved to Water/Wastewater Asset Management Group supporting both linear and non-linear assets.

JEA adopted PAS-55 (Publicly Available Standard No. 55, issued by The Institute of Asset Management and the British Standards Institute) as the framework for it’s Enterprise Asset Management Program for all Assets, including W/WW, Electric Distribution, Transmission and Generation, Fleet and Building Ops

“The overall purpose of monitoring asset management performance is to evaluate the implementation of asset management objectives, the effectiveness of the arrangements for controlling risk and enable the identification of the need to restore or improve asset management performance” PAS 55-2:2008

PAS-55 identifies the requirement for both reactive and proactive monitoring

Key Process Indicators

Key Process Indicators (KPI’s) Using PAS-55 framework, developed 11 KPI’s to

be used as minimum indicators for all of JEA’s assets which were approved by the EAM steering committee and presented to senior management for approval.

JEA’s 11 Corporate KPI’s represent a blend of both reactive and proactive indicators.

Data contained within Maximo is loaded into a data warehouse twice daily

JEA utilizes Oracle Business Intelligence (BI) to extract data for reporting purposes

Oracle BI allows quick and easy access to mass quantities of data over varying periods of time

Reports and graphs showing the status of JEA’s 11 KPI’s are automatically generated daily at VP/GM, Director and Manager levels of the organization

Hundreds of other ad-hoc reports have been created and run automatically, or as needed by the business, and are used to make asset-related operational and maintenance decisions

Each morning Oracle BI automatically updates approximately 125 reports corresponding to a specific KPI status and specific area of the business

The reports are then automatically exported into JEA’s Sharepoint intranet site know as “The Grid”

Anyone in the company can easily view the status of the KPI’s in near real-time status

KPI definitions are also available on “The Grid” for any employee to view
