Some of the tools or approaches that support writing and editing are wikis, blogs, and mindmapping tools that can help you form your ideas.

Check out the resources in Go Further for more ideas

Create a Digital Story

You might want to piece together a digital story using photos and images that you create. Flickr has some great options for photo storage and slideshows.

Design an engaging blog

Blogs are a great way to design an interesting site, and with the help of a template to get you started, it is also really simple! If you are a good writer, have stories to share on a theme, and know how to start a conversation, check out UBC Blogs in the Go Further section.

If you are doing a presentation and don’t want to use the same old powerpoint, you’ll also want to check out Prezi!

If you like the editing process and want to try making a video, learn how to with our Video Toolkit (in the Go Further section) and borrow some equipment from the Learning Commons.

Document your story on video

Videos allow you to show, not tell your story, which can often highlight your main point while captivating your audience

How about a podcast?

All you’ll need is some basic recording tool, such as your laptop or smartphone with a recording option, and then you can bring your art of conversation to life.

Check out our Podcasting Toolkit in the Go Further section for some tips and getting started information.

Podcasts allows you to introduce your concept in a conversational, personalized manner.

Step 4Step 4

Do you want to keep your work private with password access for your instructor/classmates?

Do you want your work to reside on the web as an open resource for all to see and others to build/comment on?

Decide who sees your work

privateprivateBlogging with UBCBlogs

If you are using a UBCBlog, you can set privacy options according to your preference.

The UBCWiki, however, is not private, it is open for editing by anyone with a CWL.

On any other tool (Flickr, YouTube, etc) there are usually privacy options that you can choose for your account. Just be sure there is an option for your instructor to view your project.

If you want your work to be public, shareable and viewable by anyone on the web then this is the option for you! You may want to review guidelines for publishing on the Digital tattoo site. Refer to the Go Further section for the link

Just Remember...

... if you are signing up to a web service that is hosted in the U.S., you’ll want to take note of the privacy policies before you give over your personal information.

The U.S. has a different view of privacy than we do in Canada.
