Bending the rulesBending the rulesBending the rulesBending the rulesDo you remember the story of

    Moses and the 10 Commandments?

God gave the prophet Moses a list of rules

that all His people should follow.

One of the rules says, Remember the Sab-

bath and keep it holy. The Sabbath is a spe-

cial day when we try not to do any work. We

spend the morning praying in church. Thenwe try to rest on this special day that God

    gave us.

But in todays Gospel lesson, we hear about how

Jesus found a woman who had a bent back. She hadnt be

straight for 18 years! When Jesus healed her, lots of peop

Another time in the Gospels, Jesus tells us the most impo

ment. He tells us the greatest commandments are 1. To lo

To love your neighbor as you love yourself. And Christ sh

his neighbor, this poor woman, when He made her all bet

though it was on that holy day, the Sabbath. When you fo

big rules, you are doing what Christ would do!

Everything in an icon means something. The

Prophet Isaiah is holding a scroll. In an icon,

that shows God made him very wise. Lots of

prophets have scrolls in their icons, and so

do apostles and other saints. Can you find

    one in Saint Hermans icon?

    Can you un-

    scramble the

    words? Then

    take the words

    in the and

    un-

    scramble them

    too for one final

    word.
