Marketing research is the function that links the consumer, customer, and public to

the marketer through information - information used to identify and define marketing

opportunities and problems; generate, refine, and evaluate marketing actions; monitor

research specifies the information required to address these issues, designs the methods

for collecting information, manages and implements the data collection process, analyzes,

and communicates the findings and their implications.

Need for market research:

To undertake marketing effectively, businesses need information – information

information needs to be updated regularly because businesses operate in a dynamic

environment.

1. Gain a more detailed understanding of consumers’ needs –

of issues, e.g., views on products’ prices, packaging, recent advertising campaigns

There is no guarantee that any new idea will be a commercial success, but accurate

and up-to-date information on the market can help a business make informed decisions,

Geographical Scope: - The scope of the study is concerned; the study is limited

to the geographical region of Pune. The major geographical regions that were

under consideration for the study were Transporters, Logistics and Manufacturing

companies across the Pune City.

Functional Scope: - As far as functional scope of the project is concerned, the

study is limited to the marketing department. The areas under focus of the study

were understood consumer opinion, product awareness, analysis problem faced by

the Transporters, Logistics and Manufacturing companies.

The other functional limitation of the project was, the study was conducted only

for Supervisor tracking system not for the complete product range of the

What is research?

“Research is the process which includes defining and redefining problems,

formulating hypothesis or suggested solutions; collecting, organizing and evaluating data;

making deductions and reaching conclusions; and at last carefully testing the conclusions

to determine whether they fit the formulating hypothesis.”

What is a research design?

Research design is the arrangement of conditions for collection and analysis of

data in a manner that aims to combine relevance to research purpose with economy in

procedure”

Importance of Research Design:

“Research design is an advance planning of the methods to be adopted for

collecting relevant data and the techniques to be used in their analysis, keeping in view

the objective of the research and availability of staff, time and money”.

Descriptive Research Design:

Descriptive research design is the scientific method, which involves observing and

describing the behavior of a subject without influencing it in any way. It is used because

of the fact that all the data used in the research were obtained through a questionnaire.

There were no given criteria for selecting the logistics and manufacturing companies that

participated in filling out the questionnaire.

Sampling Method:

Non-Probability sampling method is the sampling procedure which doesn’t afford any

basis for estimating the probability that each item in the population has been included in

the sample.

In convenience sampling selection the reasearchers choose to sampling units on the basis

of convenience or accessibility.

Sampling Area:

The sample area refers to the region which the sampling units belong. The sample area

for this research is Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad region. Area surveyed were:

Sample Size:

The sampling size refers to the number of sampling units that will be selected from the

population of the targeted area. The sample size of the research is 120.

Total Population: 250.

Sample Unit:

A Single section selected to research and gather statistics of the whole.

Sample Unit: Transports, Logistics companies and Manufacturing companies.

Primary Data:

Questionnaire was the primary instrument used for gathering data. 13 questions

were distributed and asked to fill up to the respondents. The questions were close

ended. Respondents were to choose from given set of options.

Secondary Data:

The Secondary data was gathered through different source such as the website of

company, journal, magazines, newspaper, wabsites etc.

Limitations or Challenges:

Some of the challenges in the course of carrying out this research were the

literacy level of the repondents and their ability to understand and comprehend the

question asked inorder to give their best possible response.

The Limitations and Challenges faced are highlighted as below:

1) Poor Response Rate

Some of the respondents selected did not give any responses regarding the

questionnaire that were distributed to them.

2) Poorly Filled Questionnaire:

There were some of the questionnaire, which cannot be used in data analysis

either because the respondent did not fill them out properly, or in some cases

selecting more than one response in case of multiple-choice questions.

3) Time:

Time was limited some respondents were in hassle to fill out the data inorder

to continue their work. Time frame for the research was also limited as such

that best results cannot be obtained.

FINDINGS , SUGGESTIONS & CONCLUSION

1. Findings

After the completion of summer internship projects experience I got the following

finding about the market, business and working environment.

It is found that the more number of logistics companies using the

Freightbazaar.com app or website.

It is found that more number of logistics companies are aware about

Freightbazaar.com app or website.

The market share of Freightbazaar.com is 56% while others capture 44% market

share.

Logistic and Manufacturing companies prefer freightbazaar.com to the other sites.

68% are satisfied with the Freightbazaar.com & they often use other similar

services.

40% companies are using computer system or application for their business.

56% companies aware of Freightbazaar.com and 44% companies are not aware

about Freightbazaar.com.(Table no. 1)

34% companies came to know about Freightbazaar.com through Internet,

followed by 30% companies through Advertisement, followed by 21% companies

through Word of Mouth, followed by finally 8% company through Company

Employee and 7% companies through others.(Table no. 4)

45% Logistics companies are using Freightbazaar.com, still they are lagging in

promotional activities (Table no. 3)

54% companies think that Freightbazaar.com is very useful in future.(Table no. 5)

2. Suggestion:

Company should focus on their product and also need to work on promotional

activities and advertisement.

Company should maintain their presence on social network.

It is important to contact companies which already using the app from 2-3 years.

Activation should be done at the time of registration.

3. Conclusion:

From the study it could be concluded that Freightbazaar.com has a good market

potential, provided appropriate measures are taken to identify potential targets and

market is penetrated systematically.

Most of the customers are aware of Freightbazaar.com.

Most of the survey done by ECS Technologies, part of survey was done by us,

which was beneficial and gave insight about perception of customer about

Freightbazaar.com.

Still company is trying to increase market share.
