Chemistry Lab Reports These should include the following sections: Name (on all sheets and print so it is legible; use both names not just your first name on at least one sheet) Name of lab partner (make sure it’s obvious who is the writer and who is the lab partner) Introduction A sentence or two explaining what the overall objective of the experiment was. This may be written or typed on a blank sheet of paper. Data Sheet(s) (torn from lab manual) All the data (mass, volumes, other measurements) recorded during the lab. Calculations/Answers (torn from lab manual) Answers to questions and all calculations necessary. Be sure to show ALL steps used to derive your numerical answers for full credit. Show all units, and give answers to the correct number of significant figures (usually 3 or 4). This section may be written on blank sheets of paper if tear-out sheets for answers are not provided in the lab manual. All sheets are to be stapled together in the above order, and submitted the following lab period (unless otherwise instructed). And remember: you must be complete the lab (with partner) in order to submit a lab report. If you are absent from lab, you cannot get data from someone else and submit it. Partners share data, but write up and submit reports individually.
