22 - 119Synthesis and Properties of Phosphorus-Substituted Azomethines.— Reaction of lithium salts of ald- and ketoimines (I) with derivativesof phosphorus(III) acids in hexane affords selectively α-C-phosphorylatedproducts. Depending on the nature of the imines employed, azomethines[cf. (III), (XII)] and/or enamines [cf. (IV), (X)] are obtained. Reaction ofthe azomethines formed with various nucleophiles is shown to proceed at thephosphorus substituent [→ (V), (VI), (VIII)]. When the reaction of ketoimine(XI) with chlorophosphine (II) is carried out in more polar solvent (DMF) or inthe presence of TMEDA, the C-phosphorylated azomethine (XII) as well as theN-phosphorylated enamine (XIII) are obtained. — (KABACHNIK, M.
