Novel Synthesis of 4- or 6-Substituted Indirubin Derivatives. — A simple and con-venient route to the title compounds (VII) and (VIII) is described. The coupling reaction of the compounds (IV) to afford the compounds (VII) does not work under basic con-ditions whereas the compounds (Va)—(Vd) react under both acidic and basic condi-tions.
