Passive Solar House

Weekend Retreat

CONCEPT

The client Laura Johnson desires an

efficient passive solar house for her weekend retreat. The house supports

those wishes with concrete thermal

massing on the floors and walls, south-

facing curtain walls, and good ventilation

throughout the house. As requested by the client, the house provides entertaining

spaces within the open

living/dining/kitchen area and outdoor

deck overlooking Perry Lake. Several

rooms can be converted into bedrooms if occupied by a larger family in the future.
