Good evening ladies and gentleman and welcome back to Melbourne Park for tonight’s fixture with Eastleigh.

I would like to welcome back the players, officials and supporters of Eastleigh and hope that they enjoy their stay with us at Melbourne Park followed by a safe journey home later on tonight.

Well, it has been exactly one month to the day since our last home league fixture and, tonight, we face a very tough encounter against a full-time Eastleigh side. They certainly showed what they can do on Saturday by defeating the, then, joint leaders of the division, Welling, by three goals to nil. Glenn and the lads will be looking for another three points to put the club right on the edge of the play-offs before FA Cup action takes precedence this coming Saturday.

In our last home game way back on the 15 October city faced Tonbridge Angels in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round and, following the 2-2 draw just two weeks before, City expected to battle hard to progress in this season’s competition. However, the boys put in a great performance and secured a 3-0 victory to book a place in the next round where we were paired with the current leaders of the Ryman Premier League, Lowestoft Town.

What was thought would be a real tough encounter turned into a stroll as City secured a 5-2 victory, despite going behind after sixteen minutes. City made light work of the ‘Trawlermen’ and moved forwards into the draw for the Fourth Qualifying Round.

With the Conference National clubs joining, all City could hope for was a home draw and this was exactly what we got as we were paired with Matt Lock’s Gloucester City. Gloucester are currently mid-table in the Conference North and the side who eliminated us from last season’s FA Trophy competition.

In between these cup games City have picked up a further four points on the road. Unfortunately an injury time equaliser was conceded at Maidenhead but, on Saturday, tables were turned as Adam Tann secured an injury time winner at Salisbury.

Finally, don’t forget that City are at home to Gloucester City on Saturday in the FA Cup - a real chance to progress into the First Round Proper and, once again, face Football League opposition.

Up the City, wheel ‘em in!

The Boardroom

Tonight we welcome the players, officials and supporters of Eastleigh to Melbourne Park for this evening’s league clash.

We all hope that you enjoy your stay with us and would like to wish you all a safe journey home later on tonight.

Before I make any comments on the games since my last programme notes, I must report how everybody involved with the club is devastated at the news that Anthony Cook has suffered a hugely unfortunate reoccurrence of the cruciate ligament problem that kept him out for most of last season.

Scans show that he is going to be in need of a further operation that will probably keep him sidelined for the rest of this season as well. Of course we all wish him the very best and hope that he makes a full recovery so we can enjoy his talents on the park again very soon. He really is a lovely guy and will be sadly missed in the dressing room aswell as on the pitch.

On the park we seem to be stepping up a gear and good wins against Tonbridge Angels at home and Lowestoft Town away, in the FA cup, see us progress to the Fourth Qualifying Round and another chance to recapture the great away day we had at Wycombe last season.

That trip to Adams Park was certainly one of the highlights of my time as Chairman of Chelmsford City and, a year later, here we are with the possibility of another good fixture if we can get past Gloucester City at the weekend.

They beat us at Whaddon Road last year in the FA Trophy with what must be classed as one of the most dubious “goals” ever scored. We seemed to attack their goal continuously but just could not get the ball into the net; something I think that Glenn will try and redress at the weekend.

Matt Lock joined Gloucester in the summer and so it will be good to see him again this weekend. Again, Matt is another really nice guy and it is a shame that he had to return to the West Country in the summer for family reasons.

With both a draw and a win on the road in the league since our last home game,

too, we are now bouncing back up the table and sit in sixth place, four points off the play-offs and nine points behind the leaders going into tonight’s match with Eastleigh.

Looking up to the teams above you is motivational but looking down at those trying to catch you is pressure. I am sure that it will not be too long before we are back in the play-off positions ourselves and can continue to push onwards.

I would like to thank you all for supporting the team both home and away and I know that the players want success as much as the supporters. I think that the scenes behind the goal at Salisbury on Saturday demonstrated the passion that is felt between both the team and the supporters. It only remains for me to wish you all a safe journey home later on and hope that you can all make it back to Melbourne Park on Saturday for the FA Cup game with Gloucester.

Regards and best wishes,

News From Melbourne

Macclesfield To Visit Melbourne ParkFollowing the Clarets’ stunning 4-0 victory over AFC Telford in the FA Cup First Round last weekend, Sunday afternoon’s Second Round draw paired City with Football League Two side, Macclesfield Town, to bring Football League opposition to Melbourne Park.

It’s the second round in succession that the Silkmen will have made the trip down to Essex from Cheshire, following a comfortable 3-0 win at East Thurrock United in the First Round.

The fixture is to be played in a fortnight’s time on Saturday 3 December and, in what is City’s biggest home game for over thirty years, the club has confirmed that the uncovered Ro-Ro is to be extended for next weekend, meaning that it runs across the full width of the pitch, enabling an additional 200-250 people to watch from behind that goal.

There aren’t currently any plans for fan segregation and advance tickets are only available for the Main Stand and away supporters.

The turnstiles and bar will open from midday, whilst arriving late may result in lengthy queuing and the risk of not entering the stadium before 3pm.

There is also a slight increase in admission prices for this game only, the terrace prices are: £13 adults, £9 concessions, £4 U16s. Main Stand prices are: £15 adults, £10 concessions and £5 U16s, whilst U11s prices are to remain unchanged.

The club will be taking extra care to make the game safe for all concerned with speculative searching of bags upon entry. No bottles, cans or anything which could be considered a ‘missile’ will be allowed into the ground, as per the regular conditions of entry.

Boreham Wood Trip RearrangedCity’s league fixture away to Boreham Wood has been rearranged and will now take place on Monday 12 December, kicking off at 7.45pm. City were originally due to travel to Meadow Park next Saturday but will instead be hosting Macclesfield Town in the FA Cup Second Round. The rescheduled date is subject to next Saturday’s fixture not going to a replay.

Concord Rangers In Essex Senior CupFollowing the emphatic 5-2 victory that the Clarets enjoyed over Great Wakering Rovers recently in the Essex Senior Cup Third Round, City will now play host to Concord Rangers in the next round. The tie has been set for Monday 28 November with a 7.30pm kick-off at Melbourne Park. The tie sees a rematch of the 2009 final against Rangers, where City ran out as 2-0 winners from goals by David Rainford and Ricky Holmes.

Special Guest At Retro EveningVisitors who attended the special Retro Evening held on Thursday night by the Supporters’ Club will have seen a special guest, as the FA Cup came to Melbourne Park. The evening, which gave everyone the opportunity to replay the 1960s with guests from the old City and Romford teams, saw the FA Cup trophy sit in the club house where supporters were able to pose with the silverware.

UBMANY MINDS ONE HEART with Glenn Pennyfather

Welcome back to Melbourne Park tonight for this evening’s game with Eastleigh.

The Tonbridge game was our opportunity to make amends for the league game the week before and, with lessons learnt, we dominated the game; clinical with our finishing and fully concentrated on our discipline and defending.

The victory saw us into Qualifying Round Three where we were given a difficult task against highly-rated Lowestoft Town on their own patch. It took twenty minutes to get going and we were one down but, once we scored a quick double, I felt we took control.

Sandwiched between those cup matches was a trip to Maidenhead and we started very well; taking an early lead when Kezie Ibe finished after good work from Cliff Akurang. A number of chances fell our way but we didn’t capitalise on them.

We rued those missed opportunities as we conceded a last minute goal and, with it, dropped two points. I felt that we were a little naive in our professionalism in seeing out those remaining seconds on the day, but the players will have learnt from that and know that we need to close games out.

Our next port of call was Salisbury who

have a very good home record and are also one of the full-time teams in our league so we always knew it was a big task. After a long journey down there we took very little time to get into the game, and the first forty-five minutes passed by without any incident for either side.

Once the game got a little stretched in the second half we began to build good passages of play and the last twenty minutes saw us create some decent openings.

With time running out, we eventually took one as Adam Tann capped an excellent performance by tapping in the winner to give us a hard-earned three points.

Salisbury are the best team we have played so far this season, so it’s a testament to the players’ performances and fitness levels that we could go on to secure a very important three points.

We did receive some bad news this week with Anthony Cook suffering a ruptured cruciate ligament against Maidenhead and requiring surgery. Cooky has worked so hard to get back and everyone at the club is devastated for him but, knowing his character, he will take every positive to come back stronger and fitter.

Elsewhere on the injury front, David Rainford is making progress and will

hopefully be available on Saturday, whilst Craig Parker is in full training now and will be involved in the Essex Senior Cup game with Great Wakering next week.

We’ve also signed Michael Bakare this week and I’d like to officially welcome him to the club. He’ll bring both good competition for places up top and something different to the mix. His goalscoring record this season is excellent and I’m really looking forward to working with him.

Tonight’s game sees my old team mate, Ian Baird, bring his Eastleigh side to Melbourne Park.

They had a good result at the weekend in beating Welling comfortably and, being another full-time team, we’ll need to be at our best to maintain our push upwards.

As always, the support has been fantastic and Saturday’s scenes when we scored epitomised the spirit we’ve got here - please keep up that positive, vocal encouragement tonight as it’s so important to us.

Enjoy the game,

Having challenged his side to call upon the memories of last season’s superb FA Cup run, City manager, Glenn Pennyfather, was delighted to see the Clarets ease past Tonbridge Angels in the Second Qualifying Round. Without a win in six league fixtures at Melbourne, a change in competition helped the Clarets to turn the tide as goalkeeper Searle returned from injury to take his place. Modeste, who scored when the sides last met less than a fortnight ago, could have put Chelmsford in front inside the first minute but he angled his side-footed finish wide of the post with the goal gaping. Akurang then went close, too, arrowing a shot into the gloves of visiting custodian, Worgan. Taylor’s fierce shot over from distance just before the half-hour was City’s one anxious moment in the first half. Clarets’ captain, Rainford, was unlucky to see a strong shot deflected wide before nodding in Corcoran’s free kick from an offside position, meaning that City had to wait until the final minute of stoppage time to take the lead as Palmer’s set-piece delivery dropped into the path of Ibe and he coolly slotted home from close range.

Ibe doubled his tally for the afternoon five minutes after half time when Modeste’s pass was cut out and fell kindly for him, setting the scene for a scintillating strike from twenty-five yards. Ibe and Cornhill both fired over in the aftermath, but the hosts made sure that there would be no repeat of letting slip another 2-0 lead against Tonbridge in the seventy-third minute when Modeste’s teasing centre was nodded into his own net by Judge. Four minutes later, Worgan upended Akurang as the striker attempted to round him leading to a penalty which Ibe took in the absence of the substituted Rainford, but this time his finish eluded him as the ‘keeper leapt to his left to push the shot to safety. However, there was still time for Angels replacement, Tim Olokunde, to be dismissed, picking up a second booking after being cautioned whilst still a sub during the opening period for making his feelings known to one of the assistant referees. Morgan forced a parried shot from Worgan before Benjamin twice went close for the Clarets late on, but Pennyfather was nonetheless pleased to see his side both victorious at home and in the hat for the Third Qualifying Round.

It’s obviously great to get that first home win under our belts and we want to start a run of victories now by making sure it’s the first of many.

The FA Cup is a great competition and we knew if we were to progress this season then we’d have to overcome a tough start, but we’ve come through that test with flying colours.

The FA Cup sideline is of immensely good benefit for us and it will also be useful that

we have avoided a replay so that we’ll have no game in

midweek.

Despite having slid down the table somewhat since, there remains a healthy points difference between the bottom four who, already, seem to be becoming cut adrift.

With a publicly-reduced budget this season though, Goldberg is happy that his side are meeting expectations. Speaking to the BBC, he said: “I’d have hoped that we would punch beyond our weight this season and we’re exactly where I want to be at this stage.

“We’ve learned a lot of lessons. Our young players are growing in stature and gaining great experience.”

In recent weeks City have known all too well about the enjoyment of a good cup run alongside the bread and butter of league football and, whilst the Clarets entertained AFC Telford last Saturday, today’s visitors were also enjoying the FA Cup.

Bromley took a travelling army of over 1,500 supporters across London to Brisbane Road as Mark Goldberg’s men enjoyed a day out at Football League One side, Leyton Orient.

Unfortunately for the Ravens and their travelling support, Bromley bowed out of the competition to a 3-0 scoreline, but Goldberg insisted that the three-goal deficit was harsh on the Blue Square South side.

“I don’t think the game passed us by the way that in the past when we played against Colchester in the FA Cup last time [lost 4-0] where we really weren’t in the game,” he reflected after the game.

“It is fair to say certainly in the first half we controlled a lot of the game possession wise. If we had shown a little bit more composure, I think the occasion just got the better of one or two players when they had an opportunity to strike on goal.”

O’s manager, Russell Slade, was also praiseworthy of the Bromley performance, “I thought they played really well,” said the manager. “These teams lift themselves - they came here and they came with belief. They have played three cup games already so it is in their blood. It is a big occasion for them and they were terrific.”

Back to the bread and butter of league football though and Bromley have suffered a bit of a mixed bag since a promising start to the season had left the side in entrenched within the top ten after the opening eight games.

The success of his business life enabled him to buy out Crystal Palace in the late 1990s, becoming a Premier League chairman for which he remains most well-known for.

His spell at Selhurst Park lasted just eight months and ended disastrously, with the club relegated from the Premier League and placed into administration as Goldberg’s £40m investment ran out.

“Unfortunately my ideas were too big for a club like Palace,” he admitted. “I should have been more realistic but my heart was in the club and I wanted to make them great. It was just bigger than I was capable of doing.”

Mark returned to Hayes Lane to coach at youth level for the Ravens, before being appointed to the top job at Bromley five years ago.

The club has come on leaps and bounds in the past five years, opening that era with a memorable season in which his newly-assembled squad won the Kent Senior Cup and promotion to the Blue Square South via play-off victory.

At the end of the 2007/08 season, Mark stepped aside in order to concentrate on outside interests, also resigning in January before taking up the hotseat again back in June.

Exciting, teenage winger who can also play up front. Aaron earned a call up into the first team squad in the summer having impressed during his first year with the academy and immediately made his mark with goals in friendlies against Erith & Belvedere and Crystal Palace.

Muscular striker with a combination of speed and power who signed for Bromley in July 2011. Hakeem began with Peterborough before moving on to Dagenham. After spells with Stortford and Billericay, he helped East Thurrock to the Ryman Division One North title.

A second-minute header from Lee Mills was the only goal of the game as Telford opened their final year prior to dissolution with, arguably, their greatest cup result.

The goal was enough to ensure that the Conference outfit hung on away to second-tier Crewe Alexandra in the FA Cup Third Round, setting Mick Jones’ side up with a tie at Millwall.

The Shropshire side thoroughly deserved the victory, increasingly growing in confidence as the clock ticked onwards and, following solid defending, chances went begging at the end to seal the game.

The hosts suffered from an array of misses as Dean Ashton, who would go on to represent England and score in an FA Cup final, put numerous chances wide of the mark.

Mills opened the scoring early on, with barely three minutes on the clock when Mills’ header caught Crewe cold, burying an in-swinging corner from Fitzroy Simpson to silence the Gresty Road crowd.

Despite being three divisions higher than their visitors, the Alex struggled to show any signs of the gulf in class and struggled on for the remainder of the half. Despite this, Telford were still hanging on through a combination of desperate defending and a lack of composure in front of goal for the home team.

The home side began to deplete, as first Varney left the field with a shoulder injury before Ben Rix followed him through fatigue. With legs growing heavier, Chris Murphy almost sealed the game for the non-leaguers as he skipped through the defence only to see his effort strike the woodwork.

Although Crewe followed suit and also hit the post as they piled on the pressure in the closing stages, Telford clung on to their solitary-goal advantage and booked a tie at the New Den in the fourth round of the competition.

Cup defeats like that are not easy to forget and they stay with you a long time. I have been on the wrong end of a couple of results like this and they are very hard to take.

Sometimes I think fans think that the players don’t care but they should have been in the dressing rooms after the final whistle because our lads were absolutely devastated. Young lads in this team are trying to make their way in the game and they are really down about this result.

I think that was the game when the injuries really caught up with us. But we can’t be too harsh on the players because we haven’t got anyone else to go in at the moment. The fans got on their backs at times and that didn’t help either.

But take nothing away from Telford. They defended excellently and played well after they scored the goal. Their fans were superb as well and I really think they kept their players going.

I’m absolutely delighted. Our main focus is getting promotion from the Conference and we will now have three or four league games in hand, but we have to try to win every game and I cannot do anything about the euphoria of the FA Cup.

We had a gameplan and we put it into execution and we have beaten a very, very good side. We tried to let their centre-backs have the ball but they still managed to get the ball out wide and put some excellent crosses in with right foot and left and our defenders had to concentrate fully.

I told them it was a question of stopping their strikers getting across them and we did that.

I thought we may have scored too early but we stuck at it and I’m delighted for the lads, especially young lads like Ricketts and Murphy. I told them that they can aspire to be playing in Division One for teams like Crewe if they continue to play like that.

Opposition View

ARE SUPPORTERS GENERALLy HAPPy WITH THE CURRENT SITUATION AT HAyES LANE?Yes, I would say so. We have reached the First Round of the FA Cup and played some nice football along the way. A good run in a County Cup (London or Kent) and avoiding relegation would be a successful season on a reduced budget.

WHAT HAS BEEN THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE SEASON TO DATE?Beating Dartford 2-1 at Princes Park in the FA Cup; it was a fantastic team performance away from home and also in front of a big, hostile crowd.

ONE WIN IN EIGHT HAS SEEN THE PROMISING START SLIP AWAy, HOW DO yOU SEE THE SEASON PROGRESSING FROM HERE?The club were honest with the supporters at the start of the season about what we could expect and, at first, we over achieved. The FA Cup has taken the focus in recent times, but now we have to concentrate on staying up which I think we can.

ARE THE SUPPORTERS FULLy BEHIND MARK GOLDBERG?Yes, on the whole I would say so. I certainly am, but some people are never happy at Hayes Lane. We have achieved so much under his management, though.

WHAT HAVE yOUR IMPRESSIONS BEEN OF yOUR SUMMER ACQUISITIONS?Very good. Hakeem Araba has given us a much needed, hard-working target man up front and Danny Waldren looks great in midfield. Gareth Williams is back for his third spell with the club and is looking sharp too.

WHO DO yOU THINK ARE THE KEy PLAyERS THAT CITy SHOULD KEEP AN EyE ON TODAy?As mentioned before, Araba and Waldren are in good form, as is Williams up front and Aaron Rhule out wide. I also think Warren McBean will once again find his regular goal scoring touch now that he’s come back to the club.

WHAT IS yOUR VIEW OF BROMLEy’S PERFORMANCES ON THE ROAD?Patchy really - we have won at Havant and Eastleigh, but

got thrashed at Staines and Eastbourne. You really never know what you are going to get with the Ravens, but there are usually goals!

LOOKING IN FROM THE OUTSIDE, WHAT DO yOU MAKE OF CHELMSFORD CITy AND WHERE WOULD yOU ExPECT CITy TO END UP?For a club of your size and with the support you have I can’t understand why you haven’t gone up already. I fully expect you to make it this season, if you can get over the play-off curse! There is real quality in your squad.

DO yOU HAVE ANy PARTICULAR MEMORIES OF ENCOUNTERS WITH CHELMSFORD OVER THE yEARS?We’ve done pretty well at Melbourne Park - we always come up here as underdogs but I’ve only seen us lose here twice in six visits. The 1-1 at the start of the 2006/07 season was a great game between two good teams, whilst the only time we’ve been outclassed was last Easter Monday during a very poor run in form.

WHO ARE yOU ExPECTING TO BE IN THE PROMOTION SHAKE-UP AT THE END OF THE SEASON?Chelmsford, Dartford, Welling, Woking and Dover. Eastbourne may still make a late run.

AND WHICH TEAMS CAN yOU SEE FALLING THROUGH THE TRAPDOOR?Staines, Hampton and Thurrock, although how many of them will actually go down is another thing with this league.

FINALLy, WHAT IS yOUR PREDICTION FOR TODAy’S GAME?A hard-fought and entertaining 2-2 draw. There’s usually a penalty and a red card thrown in the mix somewhere, too!

Today’s questions were answered by Colin Patrick Head, a supporter for thirty-four years! Colin gets to around half the away games since his son, Mikey, was born and has run the club’s fanzine, ‘Two Footed Tackle’, since 1996.

Welcome back to Melbourne Park for tonight’s game with Tonbridge.

I will shortly be getting a chance to really put my qualifications relating to blind football to good practice!

Essex County FA have put me in touch with their colleagues in Middlesex who are looking for a coach to deliver around forty hours of coaching at a school in Waltham Forest. The school is a centre of excellence for children with a visual impairment.

I will be coaching B1 footballers who are considered to be ‘blind’, and here is some basic information for playing blind football;

» The game is played on a solid surface.

» There are five players in each team.

» Outfield players must wear eye-patches and blindfolds.

» The goalkeeper is sighted, but cannot leave the small area in front of the goal.

» There are no offside rules.

» The football contains ball bearings so that it makes a noise

when it moves.

I have included some photos that I took of the France v China game in the Blind World Cup, staged at the Royal National College for the Blind in Hereford in 2010.

You will notice that in two of the photos there is a coach behind the opposing team’s goal. His job is to give information to the attacking team, such as to call them towards the goal and tell them when to shoot. They will also tap on the posts so that players know exactly where the goal is.

If you would like to see blind football being played, just do a search on YouTube - you will be amazed!

There is no doubt about what the biggest game City ever played against Telford was - the FA Trophy Semi-Final in 1970. That was a day and a half, that was!

The trophy was a brand new competition at the time and here we were in the last four. All that was needed was for City to win one more match and we’d be marching on down Wembley Way to cheer on the Clarets.

With excitement mounting, off we set on the road down to Swindon, way out west singing, “zip a dee doo dah, zip a dee eh, my oh my what a wonderful day!”

Don’t forget that there was no M25 in those days, it was just every man for himself on the North Circular - remember all of that nonsense? It was basically a scenic tour of north London featuring two-hundred and fifty sets of traffic lights... all of them on red!

Upon arrival at the County Ground somebody had been busy with the paint pot - all of the stands were covered head to toe in bright red, the Swindon colours. No wonder they were nicknamed the Reds or, sometimes, the Robins.

Yet everywhere you looked the place was swarming with Telford supporters - they really were great fans though; knowledgeable, noisy and very passionate about their team. Though many of them spoke a different language - their very own Black Country dialect! It was all ‘thee’ and ‘though’, a bit like Shakespeare really. Wherefore art thou, Romeo?

Anyway, as the game wore on the City fans were left pondering, “wherefore art thou goals?!” We found ourselves a goal down and with time running out fast.

We were on bended knees, praying for an equaliser. Come on City, just pop one in... it can be a fluke, a toe poke, anything - we don’t care, just make sure you hit the target. One little goal really isn’t too much to ask!

Then right at the death, Telford got a penalty - oh no! He runs up, strikes the ball and our ‘keeper saves it - oh yes, we’re still in this!

The Day WeMet At Swindon

Then calamity strikes as the referee orders the kick to be retaken and, this time, it hits the back of the net.

That was a moment that I’ll never forget; the Telford travelling support are in raptures and making so much noise that Shakespeare was shaking in his grave. But, for us, it was simply deep, deep disappointment - there was no way back now from this.

Defeat was hard to take at the time. I was a sixteen-year old lad and I went into tailspin. For a week after the game I didn’t speak, though being a moody teenager I guess nobody would have noticed any difference anyway.

I’m still not over it today. Even now, the sound of the word Telford remains enough to give me the Swindon blues. Mind you, a win today would certainly help to ease the pain, please City.

Telford went onto play the final in front of a crowd of twenty-eight thousand. So they tell me, anyway. To tell the truth, I didn’t pay much attention. Although they did lose 2-0 to Macclesfield in the final, they were back the next year to lift the trophy and, since then, they’ve won it twice more; trophy specialists, some might say!

I remember thinking in 1970 that our time would come - we are a leading non-league side so it surely won’t be long before we take our rightful place at Wembley? Here I am now, still thinking the same thing.

For God’s sake City, hurry up already - at least before I collect my bus pass.

Come on City, just pop one in - it can be a fluke, a toe poke, anything - we

really don’t care!

ity left-back, Aiden Palmer, has highlighted a “dream” tie against former club Leyton

Orient in the next stage of the FA Cup as his inspiration to advance past AFC Telford United this afternoon.

The squad will briefly put their league promotion aspirations to one side this afternoon as they meet the Shropshire club in a huge fixture, knowing a posse of ex-Premier League clubs could await them in Round Two.

But, for summer signing Palmer, it’s his old side from down the A12 in East London who he would relish facing most if City were to continue their run in the competition.

“It would definitely be the dream for me,” he declared, having been part of a Chelmsford side which sits in fifth

place in the Blue Square Bet South after gathering four more points this week.

“It’s my boyhood club and I still get on with a lot of the players and staff there so I’d love to go back there and play football.

“If we can beat Telford today and Orient

can beat Bromley, hopefully we can get the draw and go there to beat them! To defeat them and get a goal for myself would be good.”

Palmer learned his trade at Orient from the age of just nine and made his name at Brisbane Road between 2004 and 2009.

He appeared in forty-seven games for Orient, mostly in Football League One, before later going on loan to Dagenham & Redbridge before joining Bishop’s Stortford for last season.

Aiden was reunited with ex-Orient boss, Martin Ling, in January when he signed up with Cambridge United in the Conference National prior to rejoining Stortford.

He subsequently earned a trial with

Watford but arrived at Chelmsford in June with memories of playing against the Clarets fresh in his mind.

Aiden continued: “I remember one match at Stortford’s ground where I actually set-up the second goal, so they were good memories.

“That was a good game and I don’t

know how Stortford managed to draw in all honesty! Over the summer I was looking for another club but I never put myself out there.”

Palmer has scored twice this season, both straight from corner kicks, and he claims he could have been finding the back of the net more regularly if his career had taken a slightly different path.

“I actually started off as a striker when I was younger, then moved down to left wing and then further to left-back.

“I remember in one game for Middlesex U18s they put me at left-back and I was shocked at first, but I did well and ever since then I never looked back.”

Despite not actively touting himself around over the summer, Aiden was still attracting plenty of interest prior to his arrival at Melbourne Park.

“I had interest from a few other clubs but I spoke to Glenn early doors and, as soon as he said he wanted me to come down, I just knew I was coming here straight away; I knew Adam Tann from Orient and I heard that we’d signed Justin Miller.

“This is the happiest I’ve been throughout my career and every game I play with a smile on my face - it’s good to feel wanted. We’ve got a good bunch of lads and I’m enjoying my football, so you really can’t ask for much more.”

Well done to David Rainford who notched up his 150th competitive appearance for the Club in the recent 0-0 home draw with Boreham Wood. David made his debut in a 3-0 home win over Fisher Athletic on Monday 11th August 2008, marking his debut by scoring two goals, one of which was a penalty. He had been named as a substitute for the opening game of the season two days earlier, but was not called upon to leave the bench. He has made one-hundred and twenty-one league appearances for City, putting him forty-fifth on the all-time list of City league appearance makers, level with Ian Wiles. He has so far scored forty-three league goals placing him fourteenth on that particular list.

8City have played twelve previous games on 24 October and, on Monday 24 October 2005, shared 8 goals with Staines Town; the highest number of goals scored in any of those twelve games. City fell 1-0 down after just four minutes in this Ryman League Premier Division encounter but hit back to lead 3-1 at half time. Staines hit back to lead 4-3 but City equalised in the last minute in one of the most exciting games ever in City’s history. To add to the spectacle, the match was played in driving rain.

193Most City supporters will know that local boy, Tony Butcher (pictured), holds the club’s all-time goalscoring record, finding the net on 193 occasions in league games. Butcher and Syd Plunkett, who scored one-hundred and twenty-seven league goals between 1947 and 1952, are the only City players to hit the century mark in league games with, amazingly, only another eight players getting more than fifty goals. Ricky Holmes is eleventh on the list with forty-nine goals.

6

City’s 5-2 win at Lowestoft (pictured) in last Saturday’s FA Cup encounter was the 6th occasion that City have scored five goals or more in an away FA Cup tie. Only once have they scored five or more later in the competition than the 3rd Qualifying Round. In October 1938 City won 6-2 at Fords Sports in a 1st Qualifying Round game and repeated the score line in November 1949 when beating Barnet in a 4th Qualifying Round game. In September 1991 they won 5-1 at Clapton in a 1st Qualifying Round tie and then, in August 1999, beat Woodbridge Town by the same score in a Preliminary Round game. Finally, City hammered Enfield 1893 5-0 in a 2nd Qualifying Round game in September 2009.

15When Andrew Fisk scored an own goal for City last Saturday at Lowestoft he became the 15th player to score for City by this method in the FA Cup. Fisk became the sixth player to do so in an away game, whilst the other nine have been scored in City home games. With Ben Judge having also scored for City in the previous round, it equals the record established in 1980-1981 when City benefited from two own goals in different games during that particular season’s cup run.

961To date, City have played 961 home league games on a Saturday which leads me on to my all-time favourite City stat. After beating Alvechurch 3-0 at New Writtle Street on Saturday 21 April 1990, City did not win another home league game on a Saturday until 11 January 1992, a gap of almost twenty-one months and a run of twenty-one games without a win. During the same timeframe, City played ten league games at home on days other than a Saturday, and, almost amazingly, did not lose one of them, registering five wins and five draws!

BELLINGHAM Mark League Appearances: 48League Goals: 17Debut: 14th January 1995Last Game: 23rd March 1996

Arguably the most prolific striker in non-league football during the last few years, experienced hit man Bellingham joined the Pitmen from Zamaretto League rivals Leamington in May 2010.

A man who has scored goals throughout his career, Bellingham started his career in the lower reaches of the Essex Senior League, catching the eye of Chelmsford City, who signed him in July 1995. Soon after joining Chelmsford, he relocated to the West Midlands, where he went to university in Wolverhampton as he qualified as a police officer. Despite this move, he continued to play for Chelmsford, but eventually made the move to a more local side in March 1996, when he joined Halesowen Town on loan.

Cheltenham Town snapped him up in a £10,000 transfer in the summer of 1996 but he failed to make an impact at Whaddon Road and was sold to Halesowen in February 1997 in a player exchange. After spending time concentrating on his police career, he joined up with the force’s football side in the summer of 1999, with West Midlands Police lining up in the Midland Alliance. Despite scoring prolifically for the side during the 1999/00 season, two separate cruciate ligament injuries put paid to two seasons. In between his injury problems, he was selected for the England National Police squad in 2001.

After a short spell at Sutton Coldfield Town in 2001/02, he left West Midlands for Bromsgrove

Rovers in January 2004, where he averaged a goal a game during a six month spell. He joined Stourbridge, then of the Southern League Midlands, just before the start of the 2004/05 season. It was here that his truly magnificent scoring record came to the fore, with Bellingham striking sixty-one goals in one season, getting Stourbridge promoted from the Midland Alliance in 2005/06. 2007/08 saw Bellingham at his prolific best once again, scoring twenty-two goals in half a season to lift Stour towards a play off place in the British Gas Business Midlands League.

However, the striker’s injury curse struck yet again, with Bellingham ruled out for the rest of the season. Without him, Stourbridge reached the play-offs and won promotion to the Premier League in 2008/09. Despite this, Bellingham stayed at Midland level by joining ambitious Leamington in June 2008. The goals flowed for the Brakes in a similar manner that they had at Stourbridge, with Bellingham striking forty-eight goals in a season to help Leamington to promotion to the Zamaretto League Premier. In the Premier, his injury-interrupted campaign still saw him score on a regular basis, with thirty goals in thirty-three games as Leamington finished just outside the play offs.

Announced at the end of the season that he would be leaving the New Windmill, sparking a scramble from a number of clubs to secure his services for 2010/11. Hednesford manager Bernard McNally swooped to snap up Bellingham following Ross Dyer’s move to Forest Green Rovers the previous day.

then made a move to West Bromwich Albion for £100,000. He struggled in his early days and it was not until he joined Peterborough United that he became a first team regular. He then joined the Cobblers and, after a spell in midfield, he moved up front and won the player of the year award.

He fitted in well with Graham Carr’s side, but he later lost his place and joined a number of clubs. He helped Southend United to promotion, but was with Luton Town when they were relegated. Benjamin quit the Football League in 1996 and joined Roy McDonough’s City, however, was released after just thirteen games in a struggling side and joined Wisbech and later became manager. He also became manager of Warboys Town while working part-time for the Royal Mail postal service.

BENNETT Edgar League Appearances: 37League Goals: 6Debut: 18th September 1954Last Game: 14th April 1956

Edgar Bennett joined Luton Town in September 1952 from Vauxhall Motors as an outside right. In his two seasons there he remained a part-timer and, apart from one outing in the first team, he remained in the reserves. Coming to Chelmsford in the close season of 1954/55, he had to wait until the November to gain a regular slot in the number 7 position at the expense of Buddy Gowers. Although he started the next season in the first team, he lost his place on the wing to Les Dicker and was released in May 1956.

BENNETT Gary League Appearances: 57League Goals: 27Debut: 26th February 2000Last Game: 5th May 2001

Born in Enfield, Bennett was in the youth system at Tottenham Hotspur but began his senior career at Colchester United, for whom he played in the FA Trophy final in 1992. In 1994 he left Colchester to join Woking, and during the 1990s also played for Dagenham & Redbridge and Braintree Town, for whom he scored a record fifty-seven goals in one season.

In the 2000s he had two spells with AFC Sudbury, playing two-hundred and fifty-three games and scoring one-hundred and seventy-two goals, remaining the club’s all-time top scorer. He joined Chelmsford City (who paid £3,000 to sign him from Sudbury in 2000) and formed a formidable partnership with Steve Portway which gained City promotion to the Southern League Premier Division, before returning to Sudbury.

He also played for Witham Town, Ipswich Wanderers (where he was player/assistant manager) and Tiptree United. After playing a solitary match for Tiptree, Bennett stopped playing football and currently works as a postman.

ity will play Football League club, Macclesfield Town, in the FA Cup Second

Round on Saturday 3 December at Melbourne Park and Clarets’ boss, Glenn Pennyfather, has warned his squad that they’ll only be selected for the historic game if they perform to the required levels in forthcoming domestic fixtures, starting with Bromley at home this afternoon.

City brushed aside AFC Telford United from a division above by four goals to nil last Saturday to cause an upset and capture the imagination of the local and national media.

Plans are already gathering speed off the field to stage the huge game, though Pennyfather is keen to divert the focus of his players away from the tie as they continue their promotion push.

“There are a lot of games between now and then for the players to impress me - and they’ll only get to play against Macclesfield if they do well in the games in-between,” he claimed.

“This is the icing on the cake for us, but the cake has to be made! Promotion has always been our priority and I’ve got the quality there in the squad to change things if necessary. We had players missing from some of our recent games but we still built this long unbeaten run.”

Of the draw, he said: “Ultimately I was pleased to be drawn at home, then you hold your breath to see who’s coming to Melbourne.

opportunity of advancing. It’s not a match against the likes of the Sheffield clubs or Charlton Athletic - I watched Charlton’s game and their professionalism and fitness was far too much. But make no mistake, this is a big banana skin for Macclesfield and we’ll just enjoy the occasion.”

After today’s game with Bromley, City take on table-toppers Woking twice in a week; firstly on Tuesday night in a league encounter and then next Saturday in the FA Trophy.

Despite competing in the FA Cup, Glenn’s team happily moved up a place into fifth las Saturday as a result of a swing in Dover Athletic’s goal difference, and the Clarets’ manager knows that league form is the most important aspect of the season.

“The competition in the division is much greater this year and there are clubs starting to come to the fore,” he added.

“Other than your early leaders at the top there are other sides like Boreham Wood, who are on a winning run and came and made it very difficult for us at Melbourne. Maidenhead got a great result against Aldershot at the weekend, Dover have spent heavily and we went to Salisbury and found they were a tough nut to crack.

“Saturday’s win was a one-off result but it was also a yardstick for where we want to be. We want to be playing the likes of Telford every week, not just in cup games, and I know this squad would do well at that level.

“But we’ve got to get there first and

we’ll continue to go all out to achieve that. So far I’d give us seven out of ten, although obviously a ten in the FA Cup!

“I think we could do better and the players know that. But the positive is that I’ve watched the recordings of all of our games and, in the draws and the defeats, there isn’t a single match we couldn’t have won.

“Also, the pitch last Saturday was the best it’s been and the players trusted it more. It’s a massive boost if we can keep it like that and carry on with our away form, too.”

Pennyfather was able to run his eyes over some of the players who hadn’t been starting regularly and others coming through the ranks in last week’s 5-2 Essex Senior Cup win at Great Wakering Rovers, booking a home tie against Concord Rangers in the last 16. He appreciates the strength of his squad, but says his players are reminded not to rest on their laurels.

“I’m constantly looking at new players and if they’re available and I think they’d improve our squad then I’d like to strengthen, within the budget,” explained Pennyfather of his fifth-placed squad.

“The current individuals are performing to levels that mean I don’t have to bring anyone in with any urgency but if I didn’t keep looking elsewhere I wouldn’t be doing my job properly. We’re always speaking to people and aiming to improve.”

Bob Batchford’s reserves team continued their excellent start to the season when they travelled to Brentwood Town at the beginning of the month in a President’s Challenge Cup Second Round tie.

City fielded a strong side with six of the starting eleven having appeared for the first team this season. The star of the show was Joe Benjamin (pictured above) who looked a class above the opposition and also went on to score a fine hat trick, with the further City goals in a 5-0 trouncing coming from both Greg Morgan and Ben Nunn (pictured right).

Manager, Bob

Batchford, also gave a run out to all three of his substitutes, Adam Vyse, Ross Lamb and Stewart Latimer, who replaced Robert Clarke, Jermaine Brown and Greg Morgan.

City: Lewis Batchford, Ben Nunn, Hadley Brown, Robert Clarke, Mark Haines, Jermaine Brown, Warren Whitely, Ryan Batchford, Tyrone Scarlett, Joe Benjamin, Greg Morgan

Subs: Adam Vyse, Ross Lamb, Stewart Latimer

City now travel to Ebbsfleet United in the Third Round on a date that is still to be arranged, although the ties are scheduled to be played in the week commencing 21 November.

City were due to visit Brentwood again the following week, this time in

a league encounter, but with Brentwood unable to raise

a team for a variety of reasons, the Capital

League gave permission for the game to be

postponed.

Next up for City is a trip to AFC Hornchurch on Thursday 3 November and then, on the following Tuesday, Brentwood Town visit Melbourne Park.

As a result of the Brentwood postponement, City have now fallen behind with their fixtures and occupy a position right in the middle of the table. However, they are ten points behind runaway leaders Billericay Town but do have five games in hand.

Both City and Ebbsfleet United have one-hundred percent records but have only played two and three games, respectively. AFC Hornchurch currently prop up the table having failed to secure a point from any of their three league games.

City 3-1 East Thurrock UnitedSunday 16 OctoberEastern Region Women’s League,Division One South

Chelmsford’s pre match preparations were dealt an early blow when the influential Georgia Wheate was unable to take to the pitch having been injured in the warm up.

This did nothing to settle the Clarets as they struggled to get the ball down on the unpredictable surface. After a nervy first ten minutes, Chelmsford were presented with their best chance when youngster, Mollie Debell, headed over the bar from a corner.

On twenty-four minutes, a quick throw from Lynsey Bowman found Jasmine Wheeler who rounded her defender before poking the ball past the advancing goalkeeper to give the home side a deserved lead.

As the time ticked away to half time, Chelmsford became more confident on the ball and it seemed as though they were going to go into the break a goal ahead. These hopes were quickly dashed when, a minute before the break, Thurrock hit City on the counter attack to go into the break with the scoreline level. The second half saw City come out looking like a different team

and, with less than one minute played, the home side were back in front when Lynsey Bowman picked up the ball on the left wing before lofting it over the keeper.

This gave the home side added confidence and they should have been another goal ahead if it wasn’t for the Thurrock keeper who made a triple save to keep the ball out of the net.

Those heroics were to be in vain when, just after the hour mark, Chelmsford were awarded a penalty having seen Emma Ridings brought down in the box. Helen Alder (pictured above) stepped up and calmly slotted the ball home to make it 3-1.

Nicola Medici replaced the hardworking Ridings and was unlucky not to score

when she headed wide before, shortly afterwards, Emma Wells replaced Zoe Strong and could

have scored with her very first touch when she latched onto

a Bowman cross only to see her shot saved by the keeper. This was to be one of the final chances of the game as the Clarets secured a well-earned three points.Coach, Sharon Brownlie, enthused: “We were extremely disappointed with our performance in the first half but we came out looking like

a different team in the second. We were heavily

beaten by Thurrock just three weeks ago in the reverse fixture so to get the win today was really pleasing. A special mention must go to our defence who improved vastly in the second half.”

Today’s opponents, Eastleigh, have seen Ryan O’Hara depart the club after seeing injury hamper his chances of getting into the side. They have, instead, drafted in Michael Green on a month’s loan from Port Vale.

Farnborough have snapped up Crystal Palace defender, Jack Holland, on a month’s loan. Tall, powerfully built and a calm head under pressure has marked Holland out as one of the brightest prospects in the club’s academy ranks.

Boreham Wood have also shored up their defence by bringing in Sam Cox on a month’s loan deal from neighbours, Barnet. The Wood have suffered with a spate of defensive injuries this season and will hope to bring some stability to their back line.

Welcome back for tonight’s game, it’s been a few weeks since our last game here. A time that stretches the resources of any football club and so shows the hard work Mansell and the board put into the running of our club - thank you from the SC.

It’s with great pleasure that I can announce that you have reached the target of £4,000 set for the purchase of six portable floodlights to train at a reasonable time.

Glenn and the team are delighted that we have again come together and hit a fundraising target set in pre-season. Discussions are taking place on delivery and we hope to organise an official hand over to the team as a fitting mark to the tremendous achievement of raising £4,000 in under four months.

We’ll keep the buckets going and switch to general fundraising; no specific projects are in mind as yet but, if you want to suggest any, please contact me via the supporters’ website at chelmsfordcitysupportersclub.co.uk

If you want to pen a few words for Clarets on then please, please do, sending them to [email protected].

A massive THANK YOU to Dave Chantry after ten years plus as our matchday announcer, how can we replace him? Dave has decided to hand the PA mic over after service in all weathers and difficult words.

From New Lodge to Park Drive and then here at Melbourne Park we have got used to Dave’s presence pitch side and he will be greatly missed. A massive thank you Dave for all your hard work and patience when, at times, the PA’s duties must have seemed cursed. Dave’s departure from the mic has provided an opportunity to think about sharing the load. Chris Evans is happy

to do the match play announcements but will not be able to do every game. If there is a budding announcer out there then please contact Chris or speak with myself.

We hope to use the PA hut (where St John’s Ambulance bases themselves) for pre match shout outs, music requests and what’s happening announcements. If a claret what’s to share this role for pre match and half time and full time then again please see either Chris or me.

A mouth-watering double bill on the 27th with Cliff Akurang in the players chair for your next Q&A. Joining Cliff and taking through the second half of the evening will be the return of our very own City Historian David Selby. As always, Dave will provide a fascinating insight into this part of City’s history.

After the success of last season, the SC will be holding a lunch upstairs in the Don Walker ‘Directors Bar’ Lounge on Saturday 19 November at 1.00pm (home to Bromley). Tickets are £8 and include a two-course meal - the SC also hope to be joined by some special guests joining us on ‘Chelmsford City Retro Day’

With thanks to Paul Roberts for sorting out the date and tickets so quickly, Tickets are on sale from Simon Stancevic and Bobby Brewster at any game, Mark in the Club Shop, the SC Evening on October 27th or through the SC PayPal on the SC website. Tickets will sell fast, so please act quickly to avoid disappointment.

Dig out that your old City shirt, knitted scarf and woolly hat as we look to add a little more claret to the game on the Saturday 19 November versus Bromley. The SC has designated this City Retro day when fans are being asked to squeeze into that item of clothing that once fitted so well. It’s all a bit of fun so let’s be having you turn up in your

Following last Sunday’s FA Cup Second Round draw in which City were paired with Football League Two side, Macclesfield Town, the Silkmen manager, Gary Simpson, has revealed that he sees the draw as a potential banana skin.

The Silkmen make a second successive trip to Essex following their First Round tie with East Thurrock United and, having seen them off by a convincing 3-0 scoreline, Simpson will be hoping that his side can repeat the performance at Melbourne Park in a fortnight.

“It’s another long trip, another tough game and it’s very much a potential banana skin,” he explained. “It does also give us a great chance of advancing through to the Third Round, though.

“Nobody should assume for one minute that it’s a foregone conclusion. At East Thurrock it was shown that the cup is a great leveller, so we’re going to have to be on our game from the very first minute or else we’ll be punished.”

Showing his knowledge of the Clarets’ cup enjoyment from last year, Simpson went on to say: “Chelmsford made the Second Round last year as well, pushing Wycombe all thw way away from home. They do have experience of this stage of the cup and, throw in home advantage, they’ll be looking forward to going one better this year.

“Hopefully the game at East Thurrock will show the lads what it is about and playing in a game like that will prepare you better than anything else. The whole experience should stand us in good stead and give us something to learn from.

“With a place in the Third Round up for stakes, there has never been a better incentive.”

Great WakeringOn the RoadGreat Wakering - 27 miles

How To Get There By CarLeave Chelmsford via the A1114 and, when you reach the A12 junction, go straight ahead towards the A130 and Southend.

After around nine miles, take the first exit onto the A1245, get into the right hand lane and take the third exit at the adjoining roundabout onto the A127.

Follow the road through for around five miles and, when you enter Southend, go straight over the roundabout towards Shoebury A13 and the seafront.

Go straight over the next three roundabouts and then, at the fourth, take the left signposted Shoebury A13 and Great Wakering. Immediately bear left, turn right at the next roundabout and then follow the next two straight over.

Turn left when you reach Little Wakering Hall lane, which is signposted for Burroughs Park. The ground will appear on your left.

What’s The Ground Like?Burroughs Park was entirely built by committee members and supporters who voluntarily gave their free time to provide the club with a proper home.

Starting in 1985, the project saw different elements added over the years; the pitch and clubhouse were ready from 1989 which allowed the club to join the Essex Intermediate League.

The main stand features seats from the old Bolton ground, Burnden Park, whilst a covered terrace sits opposite having been added at the turn of the millenium and runs for the middle third of that side.

Generating OpportunitiesThe Football Conference Community Club Development Fund

75Chelmsford City v Eastleigh | Issue 08

Good news stories in football rarely grab the headlines.

Often it is transfer speculation, tales of bad behaviour and general gossip that fill our back (and, sometimes, the front) pages. Yet we all know how football can be a force for good. We just need to get better at telling the story.

Where does the money go from the top of the game? Re-investing in its communities is central to the Premier League’s business model. A total of £167.2m was distributed outside of the Premier League in 2010/11 - over 14% of their £1.2bn turnover. The Football Conference is now in receipt of a formal £2m Solidarity agreement, in place for three seasons. Of this annual income, The Football Conference has agreed to invest £800,000 of this sum into their communities each year.

This created a unique opportunity: this money has created a new funding stream offering every club support to help grow their community work.

The Football Conference Community Club Development Fund is in its second season. Each club can apply for up to £15,000 as 50% contribution to their costs. Last season 43 clubs received grants totalling £450,000 for projects costing £1.08m. That means more than £500,000 was achieved from inward investment from outside football.

Projects have ranged from arts activities, volunteering, work with young people not in education or training (NEETs), disability sport teams, creating educational initiatives, working with isolated community groups, green projects, healthy eating and lifestyle, support for existing community programmes, and working in partnership with schools to deliver football coaching.

This money comes freely to the competition from the top of the game, because the Premier League and the PFA recognise the role Football Conference clubs play in their communities.

Whatever the result today, let’s celebrate that good news.

After this afternoon’s game City will head into their toughest fortnight of the season to date, with two successive matches against league leaders, Woking, followed by an FA Cup tie with Macclesfield Town.

It has been some start to the campaign for Garry Hill’s Woking and, next Saturday, they will provide an extremely stern test for the Clarets as they travel to Essex for the FA Trophy Third Qualifying Round.

Saturday’s game follows City’s trip to Surrey on Tuesday night as they play the fixture that was rearranged to accommodate the AFC Telford FA Cup game last weekend, and the two games could prove good indication of the credentials of this season’s squad.

With twelve wins from their last fourteen league games and only dropping nine points so far all season, Woking have proven the standout side in this season’s Blue Square South to date.

Three points clear of Welling at the top of the league and with Tuesday night as their game in hand, too, the Cards are certainly flying and look set for an exciting campaign at the right end of the table.

Not only are they flying but, according to Hill, they’re doing it with a classy fashion as well: “We’re playing a great brand of football and we’re sitting in a position we’re very proud of at the moment - to have thirty-nine points on the board out of the first forty-eight is, at any level of football, a tremendous achievement.

“If I was the manager of a team that had the opportunity to play Woking, I’d be very reluctant to do so at the moment as we’re playing some good stuff.”

Despite being out of the FA Cup, Woking’s league form has shown zero sign of suffering as the side have continued marching ahead at the summit of the table.

Backed with the firepower of ex-City frontman, Wayne Gray, Woking have an abundance of striking talent this season that sees three of their players in the league’s top thirteen goalscorers - namely Moses Ademola, Paris Cowan-Hall and Elvis Hammond with a collective twenty-one goals.

Prior to Tuesday’s first clash with City, Woking travel to Dover Athletic this afternoon in what will be another stern test. It will be interesting to see how the directions that both City’s and Woking’s fortunes take in the next seven days.

We’re keen to get your thoughts on this season’s programme, so please send an e-mail to [email protected] to pass on ideas and feedback; all will be very much appreciated.
