History• Evelyn created a cheesecake

recipe that everyone loved. So in the late 1940’s she opened a business in Detroit with his husband Oscar. In order to raise their two children Renee and David, Evelyn gave up her shop. She moved her baking to a kitchen in the basement and continued to supply cakes to the best local restaurants

• When their children grew up and they were in their 50’s they putted their bakery in Los Angeles with their last money, they called it The Cheesecake Factory. Those days were very difficult, working 18-hours a day. And it continued to grow then, David found one in Beverly Hills which made it more famous.

Advantages over competitors• These restaurants have some industrial strength menus

for foodies. The Cheesecake Factory owns and operates more than 140 casual-dining restaurants in 35 states that offer about 200 menu items ranging from sandwiches and salads to steaks and seafood. The highlight of the menu, of course, is cheesecake, which comes in about 40 varieties, including Chocolate Tuxedo Cream and Kahlua Cocoa Coffee. Each restaurant has a unique design, but all have over-the-top opulence and Las Vegas-style glitz. In addition to its flagship concept, the company operates more than a dozen Grand Lux Cafes offering a similar menu. The Cheesecake Factory also sells desserts to grocery stores and foodservice operators.
