11:45 am –12:45 pm Lunch Symposium: Mount Temple B/CExploring the Early Phase of Crohn’s Disease

Lunch sponsored by

There is a growing recognition that the outcome of therapy inCrohn’s disease is enhanced when introduced at earlier stages ofthe disease, before long-term and potentially irreversible damagehas occurred. More recently, data suggests that biologic therapymay not only be more effective with earlier introduction, but thatspecific pathways may be more amenable to therapy at differenttime periods of the disease process.

In this symposium, we will share a comprehensive review of thedata evaluating the outcome of earlier introduction of biologicsand discuss whether a “window of opportunity” may exist fortimely therapeutic intervention in Crohn’s Disease. We will reviewthe current expert opinion on definitions of “early” disease, criteria for identifying the patient at high risk who would benefitfrom early intervention and recommendations for practicalapplication of these data to clinical practice.
