Preparing Your Home

Preparing your home for sale can make a big difference in the time it takes to get it sold. You can eliminate buyer objections before they occur by making needed improvements and repairs, some of which are listed below:

 

Exterior   

Touch up with fresh paint as needed.   Clean entrance area and walkway  Keep lawn cut and neatly trimmed  Trim  shrubbery  and  replace  dead  plants 

with fresh ones.  Plant  grass  seed where  needed  to make 

property look well taken care of.   Have windows cleaned inside and out  Repair loose trim, fencing and drain pipes.   Make  sure  exterior  lighting  is  in  good 

condition.  

Interior   

Each  room should be  inviting, clutter‐free and clean. 

Less is more when it comes to staging your property. Put away all  the extra  items  so that  the  potential  buyers  can  visualize their own furnishings in your home. 

Replace and clean carpets as needed  A  fresh  coat  of  paint  in  all  rooms  of  the 

home can make a big difference.  Make sure all  light  fixtures are  in working 

order.   Mop or vacuum all rooms in the home 

 

Kitchen  

Appliances  should  be  clean  and  in working condition 

Clean tile and grout if needed  Mop  floor,  wipe  down  cabinets  and

Clean mirrors, sinks, tubs, shower and all porcelain surfaces.
