For the local signage system I found different mediums and designs. I also put on signs which are used for bars, shops and restaurants. For the road signs there are the new ones which are very readable and have the light effect so at night these will be clear. There are the old ones which are rusty ans scratched that must be placed by the new ones. And also the ones that are no useful anymore should be removed as they might confuse the person lookin for directions

Maltese road signage should be more accurate. There are lot of good signs which are new and different from the old ones. The ones idicating diversions sometimes they have a lot of wording that it is impossible to be read in just few seconds while on is driving. Some signs are old and they don’t have the use anymore and still are in the streets.

I n t e r n a t i o n a lThe International Signage system is very different from the one we have in Malta. I liked the way how they give directions in certain places. Large signs and good design are used a lot especially Indoors, in schools, malls, companies etc..

I like the colors used for this signage. It looks clean and modern. The fonts used are very clear with the detail embossed etc...

Indoors

For the sign system I’ve visited Hilton Hotel. There are good amount of signs were people can manage to find their way. I didn’t see the Direction maps where usually this will be next to the main door with a floor plan showing directions of the whole building. But opposite to the main door a large sign is used with all the levels in the hotel.

EXIT signs were placed by the roof like a swing, coloured in green with bold white icon on it. I like the way that an icon was used because everyone can understand it. Fire exit signs were used by transparent doors as a stickers with indications.

By the walls a transparent material with bold capital words on to give directions were used. Same material and style were used for the restrooms and door’s numbers. The font used is Sans serif which can be easily read. It has no curves. Font syle it’s like a helvetica v

I’ve noticed that all main signs were colored black and had large size (size of a person)

Next to the lifts they used signs indicating levels and information. to indicate which is the cirrent level a green box was used after the level number.

Another large sign was used for the Restaurants. This was not like the other signs with directions but it was informative where for each restaurant, special food / drinks was mentioned to attract more people. The Sign’s material was a double thick Plastic (pvc) where in the middle they can change the paper according to the seasons and offers.

As for functions and eventes they make use of a stand which is not of that high quality but these stands are used very often to help people find their way to the reception / event they were invited. These stands have a frame were they can change the sign inside.

Outdoorby the pool

Outdoor signs were a little bit different such as; MaterialStyle Colors Outside signs had t be good for the sun, wind, water and for safety. They used thick metal material.

Next to the door for the pool there was a sign with adjustable space so that everyday will be updated with time, tempreture etc...

Outside the hotel I took some photos which indicates the directions to the parking. They weren’t in a good condition.They should do maintenance for the parking, as it is like the parking is not part of the Hotel.

The other signs that indicates the parking was fine with a digital clock, and at the back the sign will be changed according to the parking space.
