1. Let people tell their story2. Learn from other peoples success and failures3. Provide constant updates to keep people interested4. Provide video clips of training and fundraising

POINTS TO CONSIDER• There is huge scope for expansion in this area of tourism• Most challenge event participants have never trekked

before• The Institute of Fundraising publish a “Charity Challenge

Event Code” and a “Outdoor UK Challenge Code”.• Gift Aid can be claimed on the actual donations• Flyers need an eye-catching image to make them

effective• 12 – 18 months is the normal lead time for an event• The average UK annual charitable donation is £10 but

this rises to £34 for challenge events• Virgin Money Giving is a not-for-profit (2%) organization

to manage participant fund-raising: £1 extra per £20 raised!
