Can Museums Capture the Future?
The twenty first century offer unique Challenges for museums, when most museums still remain its core in the 1800s. Where vast collections and exhibits have been the standardpresentations. (Krishtalka & Humphrey, 2000)
New challenges for the twenty first century include the need for the collaborative power of the community in education, public programs, and management, Leadership , and a standard informationformat exchange.
Can Museums Capture the Future?
“Information about objects in museumsare as important as the objects themselves” (Marty, 2003).
Setting Standards and metadataQuestions must be answered in orderto standardize information to share Informational resources. Standardizing information as to each artifact, such as what data should be gathered, what format should the data be saved in, what vocabulary should be used, and how the information will be indexed. (Marty, 2003).
Introducing a national standard for museums must become paramount.
Can Museums Capture the Future?
USA Standard Framework
Museum Computer Network (MCN), formed in 1967 has set standards for the exchange in information for museums from the early days of the mainframe to today using the Internet.
Not all museums utilize the MCN Standards, especially foreign museums.(MCN, 2010).

Can Museums Capture the Future?
Unified Standard Framework
With many standard frameworksutilized through out the world thedifficulty remains for one frameworkto become the single standard. An In-depth examination as to why not, leads us to the conclusion that culturalHeritage places a major role. Differentclassifications for artifacts remain a Major obstacle to overcome.
Is there hope of one single framework?

Can Museums Capture the Future?
Museums in the twenty first Century will need to communicate among themselves with a united framework, one that is culturally compatible, and within an informatics community.
A movement into an equal beneficial information exchange.
Getty, has developed a framework that offers museums a pathway into the twenty first Century and should be looked upon as a starting point for a standard information exchange.
