massage relieves tension in neck, back, and shoul-der muscles, reducing irritability and increasingproductivity.

ConvenienceChair massage is performed in the workplace.

Your employees will be seated upright on a spe-cial massage chair and will remain fully clothed. No oils are used, so there is no need for them tobe concerned about stains on clothing. The ses-sion generally lasts from ten to twenty minutes. The chair is lightweight and portable, enabling itto be set up in virtually any office or break room.

BenefitsStudies by the Touch Research Institute in

Miami, Florida, show that the benefits of chairmassage have quick results. Immediately after mas-sage sessions, the subjects experienced a changein brain waves in the direction of heightened alert-ness and better performance on math problems(completed in less time with fewer errors).

At the end of the five-week study period, sub-jects reported reduced job stress and elevatedmoods. This was in addition to the usual benefitsof massage, relief of muscular tension, revitalizedenergy, and a stronger immune system.

The study’s findings are significant in that theInternational Labor Organization stated in its 1993World Labor Report that job stress costs the U.S.economy $200 billion annually through dimin-ished productivity, compensation claims, absen-teeism, health insurance, and direct medicalexpenses.

Techniques UsedChair massage utilizes acupressure and Swedish

massage to relieve tension. Though beginning at aslower pace, the work moves a little faster as thepractitioner proceeds. The session ends withquick, revitalizing strokes in order to bring theclient back to a state of full consciousness.
