InspirationYou should have now studied artists as well as taken photos and created drawings of your chosen Natural Form theme. You need to use these as inspiration to create your design pages in your sketchbook

There are many different methods that you can use to create clay structures. You can create moulds, throw clay on a potters wheel or hand build.

You are going to be hand building your structure. It is important that before you create your design you understand the different methods you will be able to use.

Methods – How will you create your sculpture?

Slab potsTo create a slab pot you roll out the clay. You cut a base and then attached your rolled slabs of clay to create a structure. There are several ways you can do this as you can see from the images.

Coil potsTo create a coil pot you cut a base and roll out coils of clay to build your structure. You can create many different shapes as you can see from the images.

What you need to have in your sketchbook

1. A page of sketches of a variety of shapes you could use to create your ceramic piece.

1. At least one (but better with two) well drawn out final design ideas that you have clearly labelled

-Create a page of patterns, marks and textures you want to create on your ceramics.

- Add some photographs you have taken to these pages to show where your inspiration has come from.
