CENTRA COCONUT BEACHRESORT SAMUI

On the southwestern tip of Samui Island, with views out across the blue expanse of the Gulf of Thailand is the secluded Thong Tanote Beach, a stretch of white-gold sand where the sea is perfect for bathing and the sunsets are gorgeous. Within easy boating distance are the two tiny islands of Koh Tan and Koh Mutsum, both of which are renowned diving and snorkelling destinations. Less than half an hour away on the coast road is popular Lamai Beach, and Nathon Pier, where ferries disembark from the mainland. Centra Coconut Beach Resort Samui is located directly on the sands of Thong Tanote Beach, nestled amidst the verdant natural surroundings, and is an ideal retreat for couples, families, or groups of friends travelling together. The resort has a small meeting room and is also a picture-perfect venue for weddings.

LIVINGIntimately scaled with just 54 newly refurbished rooms and villas, the resort offers privacy along with warm and friendly service. The rooms are set beside one of the two swimming pools, with some rooms offering direct pool access, and each has a furnished balcony. The villas are beside the beach, just a few steps from the beachfront swimming pool, and each has a generous living area of up to 63 square metres and a terrace with sun loungers and easy chairs. Designed in a light and soothing décor complemented by cool parquet flooring, all villas have enormous picture windows and a Jacuzzi in the bathroom, while the Deluxe Sea View Villa ensures you will wake to a soothing ocean vista. Guests staying in the rooms have the choice of a king bed or twin beds, while the villas offer plush king beds. All accommodation styles are exceptionally spacious, the rooms offering 44 square metres of total living space and the villas a minimum total living space of 55 square metres. DVD player and complimentary Wi-Fi are available in all rooms and villas.

CHILLINGThere are two large swimming pools, with a free-form pool and sundeck set on the beachfront, and the second pool forming the design focus of the resort. For the young ones there is a children’s pool on the beachside. The soft sand is perfect for beach games, while the warm waters of the ocean are shallow and calm. Kayaks are available for complimentary use, while the tour information desk can arrange diving and snorkelling trips. Motorcycle and car rental to tour the island can also be arranged. Cense by SPA Cenvaree offers massages, treatments and beauty care, with three treatment suites and a Jacuzzi suite available for singles and couples, and there is a fitness centre for keeping in shape during your stay. For a change of pace, the resort offers a shuttle service to Chaweng and Lamai Beach.

DININGInformal dining is available throughout the day and evening at Mix Bistro, set directly on the beachside and with an enticing menu of authentic Thai food and international signature dishes. The emphasis is on fresh local seafood with tangy dips, and along with exotic cocktails, and an extensive list of fine wines. Maprao Bar is a pleasant hangout next to the restaurant, and Y-Nam Bar is a swim-up bar that serves you with cool drinks while you are in the water or lounging poolside. For those wishing to dine in the comfort of their room or villa, in-room dining is available daytime and evening.

MEETING & SIGHTSEEING

With easy access to Samui’s ring road, all of the island’s attractions are within convenient travelling time. One of the favourite sights is the Big Buddha Temple, Wat Phra Yai, on the north coast. The Buddha image sits on a small islet connected to the island by an unpaved causeway, and makes a memorable photograph. Pha Ngan Island is a short boat ride north from Samui, and is world-famous for what is perhaps the biggest beach party on the planet, held each month at Hat Rin. The island is also famed for its laid-back atmosphere and its deserted beaches. Samui is the ideal base from which to take boat trips to Mu Koh Ang Thong National Marine Park, an archipelago consisting of 42 separate islands, many of which have caves that can be explored, and cliffs that have been

eroded into strange and dramatic shapes. Trekking trails, waterfalls, elephant rides and fishermen’s villages are all part of the Samui experience, and easy to arrange via organised trips or through individual exploration. Delightful natural surroundings, a serene beachfront location, and the brand new 40-square-metre Maprao Hom meeting room with its full range of audio-visual equipment available on a complimentary basis, make the resort a natural for distinctive meetings and seminars. Centra Coconut Beach Resort Samui is also the perfect venue for intimate wedding celebrations, with its romantic views across the sea to the islands of Koh Tan and Koh Mutsum, and its opportunities for lots of memorable photographs of the happy occasion.
