SHIRLEY JIRIK“We believe EVERY child can learn at high levels and it is our collective responsibility as educators and community members to ensure our students have the support in place to reach their maximum potential.”
FOCUS PROGRAM
MESAAs a MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) focus school, students are exposed to interactive projects that provide opportunities to learn essential 21st century skills.
At the elementary level, MESA helps students see mathematics and science as interesting and engaging subjects in which they can be competent. Students learn to work together in groups with hands-on activities that build math and science skills as well as literacy skills.
To enhance the science focus, MESA is available to all students during the school day, rather than after school. Our mission is to increase the number of at risk students who graduate from high school fully prepared for post-secondary education in engineering, mathematics, science, computer science, business and other math and science-based STEM fields.
“Centennial is cool and I learn so much. It prepares me for the future and that will definitely help me.”
MESA PARTNERSThrough our MESA program, we have built community and outreach partnerships so students can connect with possible career paths. Partnerships with the University of Colorado Multicultural Engineering Program and scientific based companies in the area to provide enrichment for our students.
Grade level Showcase Nights include MESA presentations, a music performance, a physical education demonstration, an art show, and a computer lab showcase. For a full list of partners, please visit our website.
TECHNOLOGYEach classroom is equipped with interactive whiteboards, student response clickers, document cameras, overhead speakers, and microphones.
A media distribution center allows for viewing educational material and live broadcasts.

PROGRAMSCentennial Elementary has many programs and enrichment activities.
Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS): A school-wide behavior program called PBIS has been put into place, so all students and staff have the same expectations. The goal is to have three or more positives for every negative at school.
Enrichment: Opportunities for student involvement in enrichment opportunities including a LEGO program, Science, Art, Choir, Running Club, and Survivor classes
Our licensed before and after school care (the Husky Club) and enrichment opportunities are available for Centennial Elemen-tary families. These programs provide educational enrichment and recreational programs.
Preschool: All preschool aged children within Centennial Elementary’s attendance area attend Spark! Discovery Preschool, where kindergarten readiness and STEM curriculum are heavily promoted.
BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
Our Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is very active and supportive. Events sponsored by our PTO include a cookie dough fundraiser, Giving Tree, Family Fun Night Carnival, student field trips and many other supports. There are several opportunities to volunteer throughout the school and in your child’s classroom.
