Welcome

THE COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE cuts through the Cascade Mountains near the town of Hood River, Oregon. Here, two snow-capped mountains stand sentry over pastoral scenes of rural orchards and vineyards. The mountains’ glaciers provide clean, clear water to the forest streams and waterfalls that tumble into the Columbia River over steep basalt cliffs. It is an incredibly beautiful place.

The small communities between Oregon’s Mt. Hood and Washington’s Mt. Adams have long hosted visitors from around the globe. Once-in-a-lifetime recreational experiences abound. Enjoy world-class windsurfing and kiteboarding, river rafting and mountain biking, great golfing on beautiful courses, boutique shopping, winery and brewery tours, and some of the most intriguing museums and art galleries — the Gorge can provide an exciting and memorable time for all of your guests.

The Gorge is arguably the finest destination for an outdoor wedding in the entire Northwest. The Cascade mountain range provides a “weather-shadow,” shielding the region from rain and clouds to the west. Less than an hour’s drive from downtown Portland (less than an hour from PDX), the region is easily accessible.

Celilo Restaurant and Bar has been honored to cater weddings at venues that simply take your breath away. Small, intimate farm weddings and large, glamorous weddings atop spectacular vistas alike - weddings in the Gorge are wondrous.

THE BEAUTIFUL FARMS AND ORCHARDS of the Hood River Valley produce the world’s finest pears. A remarkable variety of heirloom apples are grown here, as well as cherries and grapes. Cherries have been growing in the ideal soils of The Dalles area since the early 1800’s. And of course, the wild salmon of the Columbia have provided sustenance to the people of this region since “time immemorial.”

More recently, a new generation of family farmers have added to the region’s growing diversity with cheese makers, berry growers, fine meats and egg producers, wild mushroom foragers, and of course vineyards joining the fold.

There are over 30 wineries operating in the Columbia Gorge. A new appellation was designated in 2004 to specifically identify wines produced from Columbia Gorge grapes.

With our focus on local, fresh and healthy foods, we count ourselves the luckiest caterers in the world to be located in this incredible food-producing region. Our long-held partnerships with many of the region’s growers consistently yield catering menus that feature the very best, bright, fresh and delicious food available.

OUR RESTAURANT IS LOCATED in the heart of downtown Hood River, Orego n and our doors open to the town’s center on Oak Street. Lined with boutiques, galleries, sport shops and hotels, Oak Street is lively with strolling visitors year-round.

At Celilo, we are committed to a healthy and sustainable future. In all that we do, our focus is on the local community. We source high quality, fresh food, grown miles from our doorstep. We make every attempt to buy naturally raised products and organic products when available.

Our menus are built in response to what is in season and at its peak at any given day in the Gorge. Therefore, they are always changing. Our guests have come to expect something new and surprising at every visit, fresh and grown mere miles from where they sit.

For chef Ben Stenn, Celilo is the culmination of a 20-year career in the culinary arts. His early training took place in France where he lived and studied before sharpening his skills in New York City. After moving to the Pacific Northwest in 1995, he established relationships with local farms, ranchers and foragers from the region. In 2005, Celilo opened to rave reviews.

Good food is at the heart of every celebration. Our catering crew is close knit, we are friends and family and have been working together for over 15 years. Our commitment is to honor you and your families, for one of the most important meals of your lives.

All of our wedding packages include stationed or passed appetizers, dinner (served plated, family style, or as a buffet), a coffee station, and assistance cutting and serving your wedding cake (or other dessert).

Our experienced and friendly staff will provide service for the set up and break down of the event site the day of the wedding. We provide food service and preparation staff as well as bartending service. We have several bar packages to choose from or we can help you purvey your own bar inventory, consultation included, with no additional catering charges or corkage fees.

We provide management of your equipment needs, and have a proven reputation of cohesive cooperation with other event vendors.

Chef Ben Stenn’s mission is to remove any barriers to experiencing great

food — food that is delicious, fresh, locally and sustainably grown, and

prepared in a way that the quality of the ingredients is fully revealed.

Ben believes that the Gorge, as a food producing region, is the source

of many of the world’s greatest foods. It is a joy to help people discover

these culinary gems, grown so close to home.

Celilo Catering provides exceptional culinary experiences for small events

both on-site at the restaurant and off-site in various venues.

CORPORATE EVENTS & RETREATS

Group retreats at Columbia Cliff Villas are a favorite among Northwest

business teams for a beautiful getaway to the Columbia River Gorge.

Chef Ben’s cooking classes, limited to 12 people and featuring the very

best of the region’s foods, have been a big hit with groups. Catering is

available for events and group retreats at the venue of your choosing.

PRIVATE CLASSES AND DINNERSReserve the Restaurant. Celilo is available as a private venue for parties

of up to 80 guests. With this option, we will close the entire restaurant

to the general public for the day or evening. You will have access to all

of Celilo’s amenities, including a four course menu, a full staff of servers

and bartenders, our i-pod compatible sound system, tables, chairs,

flatware, plateware and glassware. We will be happy to help you make

arrangements with florists and musicians to make your special event a

truly memorable occasion.

Reserve a Table. Let Celilo help you host a luncheon or dinner party.

For gatherings of 22 or under, you may make a reservation for lunch

or dinner. We will compose a prix fixe menu customized to suit your

preferences and/or your dietary needs.

Host a Private Dinner in Your Home. Chef Ben is happy to cater private

dinners for parties of at least 8 people, starting at $100 per person.

Private cooking classes are a favorite and also available at this price.
