The Public Finance Innovation Awards recognise the people, products and services that demonstrate excellence and originality within public finance. Taking place on 20 April 2017, the awards are the ideal way to be rewarded for your achievements within public finance and governance.

Entries are open to all organisations and bodies within the sector in the UK. They recognise exceptional achievement and showcase how innovation has pushed public finance and governance forward. Work carried out since April 2015 is eligible and entries are accepted from public sector organisations and their commercial partners, with categories available for entry by individuals and teams.

PUBLIC FINANCE AWARDS CATEGORIES

Finance Team of the Year This award will recognise the finance team (two or more people) delivering the greatest impact on organisational performance, business partners and/or client groups. This team will have made an outstanding contribution to building a transparent, innovative, sustainable and collaborative working environment. The winners will need to demonstrate proactivity for professional development within a highly challenging culture.

Public Finance Innovator of the Year The winner of this award will have made an exceptionally creative and original contribution to public financial management and/or governance in an organisational context, and displayed transformational leadership that has challenged established practice. He or she will be a role model to others, and have demonstrated fresh thinking in improving efficiency and effectiveness.

Public Finance Newcomer of the Year Recognising an individual who has recently joined the field of public finance and/or governance, and can demonstrate that they have made an outstanding contribution early on in their career. The judges will be looking for someone who has displayed exceptional abilities as a newcomer. Entries are invited from applicants whose public

finance career began no earlier than 1 January 2014, regardless of age or prior career.

Achievement in Health and Social Care Integration This award recognises the achievements and outcomes in health and social care integration in the context of current reforms.

The award will go to the individual or team demonstrating the highest standards of collaboration, partnership working and integration across local government and the NHS. The judges will be looking for outstanding evidence of innovation in financial management, and improvement in commissioning, procurement and management analysis, leading to better health and social care service outcomes.

Achievement in Financial Reporting & AccountabilityRecognising an individual or team for delivery of high quality, accessible financial reporting that, in the opinion of the judges, demonstrates the clearest link between organisational strategy, performance monitoring and management. The winner’s approach to producing reports and accounts will demonstrate impact on the community, increasing stakeholder engagement and transparency.

Incorporating the Harry Page Trophy for an outstanding piece of work in the field of public service accounting, financial management and reporting.

Alternative Service Delivery Model of the YearThe winner of this category will be an outstandingindividual or team who has responded to financial

They will havedemonstrated innovative approaches that unlockcommercial opportunities and utilise effectivefinancial planning and leadership with thepotential to make savings and deliver improved outcomes.

Outstanding Procurement Initiative This award will go to a team or organisation that has delivered outstanding value for money and social value outcomes in procurement. They will have demonstrated high levels of technical and professional excellence, and created transferable benefits. Judges will be looking for examples that are highly innovative, generate cost savings and capture learning that will influence progress in future procurement projects.

Finance Training & Development InitiativeThe winning team, organisation or project will have convincingly utilised learning and development strategies to improve service delivery and develop team performance. Demonstrable improvements in the capability and capacity of the finance function, a commitment to lifelong learning and improved access to training and development at all levels are amongst the qualities that the judges will be looking for.

Good Governance Award This award will be presented to an individual or team that has developed a governance initiative or project displaying high ethical and accountability standards, alongside improved outcomes and impact. They will have demonstrated a commitment to social responsibility, environmental stewardship and financial sustainability and will exemplify an innovative approach to leadership and transparency in the public interest.

Innovation in Internal Audit An award for an individual or team project that has identified and supported the management and mitigation of organisational risk, and demonstrated outstanding levels of technical expertise. The judges will be looking for improved organisational processes, systems and policies, that support excellence in corporate governance. Incorporating the Cliff Nicholson Trophy for innovation and excellence in public service audit.

Innovation in Treasury & Asset Management This award will recognise the achievement of an individual or organisation that has delivered innovation and excellence in the field of treasury and asset management. They will have added strategic and financial value to medium term planning, and ensured that treasury management contributes effectively to good governance and risk management, across the organisation.

Investment Strategy of the Year This will be awarded to an individual or organisation for an outstanding investment strategy that has delivered consistent growth and improved social outcomes, whilst managing risk effectively and maintaining a positive ethical approach. Judges will be looking for strong evidence of sustainable value, an innovative approach, social and corporate responsibility and clear public benefit.

Digitisation in Finance InitiativeThis award recognises digital initiatives or programmes that demonstrate outstanding and innovative approaches to improving efficiency and outcomes in areas such as payments, supply chain management, procurement and resource allocation. Judges will be looking for strong evidence of improved customer experience, and speed and accuracy in decision-making.

SOLUTIONS PARTNER AWARDS

The Solutions Partners awards will recognise commercial organisations that have made an outstanding contribution to partnering with public sector bodies. They will be able to demonstrate the transformative and innovative impact their teams have had on public services, and their ability to reach and exceed their clients’ goals. Winners will be selected from the following categories:

Recognising significant contribution to the sector by solutions providers. Open to those commercial organisations whose services and solutions support public sector organisations across public finance and governance.
