Detailed Itinerary Arrival day – Meeting at the airport – transfer to Tbilisi hotel – Overnight in Tbilisi hotel Day 1: Tbilisi – Sadakhlo (10:30) - Haghpat – Sanahin – Yerevan Have breakfast from 07:00 to 09:00. At 09:00 depart from the hotel and drive to Armenia border. You will pass border procedures, get your Armenia visas and change transport and guide. Please note that you will have to walk about 200 meters between Armenian and Georgian borders and carry your luggage independently.1 Meeting with Armenian guide and driver and continue your tour to Haghpat monastery (11-13cc.). The construction of this monastery is associated with the glory of the Bagratuni Royal Family. Trip to the medieval Sanahin Monastery (10-13 cent.) Both monasteries belong to the UNESCO World Heritage site, which is comprised of several churches and chapel. Return to the Yerevan. Overnight in Yerevan.

Day 2: Zvartnots - Etschmiadzin – Saghmosavank – Hovhanavank – Amberd – Yerevan Take a trip to architectural masterpiece of the ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral (translated as “Place of Angels”), where once a glorious cathedral stood, built in the 7th century. Visit the Echmiadzin Cathedral, the most ancient Christian temple in Armenia and the Holy See of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Checkout the underground site of the pagan temple upon which the present cathedral stands. Next stop is in the medieval church St. Hripsime (7th century), which has an unique architechture style. Visit to Saghmosavank and Hovhanavank medieval monastery, situated in the breathtaking site, at the deep canyon of Ashtarak. Tour to Fortress of Amberd, (9th century), 6 km from the village of Byurakan, stands halfway up Mt. Aragats, at the height of 2300m. Overnight in Yerevan. Day 3: Garni - Geghard - Yerevan Visit to Garni - The pagan temple is one an outstanding monument of the Hellenistic culture in Armenia. The temple was built in the second half of the 1st century BC. In1679 it was destroyed by the earthquake. In 1975 the temple was restored. Geghard – The names came from the legendary lance, supposedly the one used to pierce the body of Christ, which was long kept here. The time of foundation of the monastery is not established. The present architectural complex was constructed in the middle of 13th century. The main church - Katoghike is one of the oldest buildings in the complex. Return to Yerevan. Visit the open air market Vernissage. Overnight in Yerevan. Day 4: Yerevan: City tour Tour the capital city of the Republic of Armenia will include visits to: Matenadaran – The Research Institute of Armenia which houses beautiful centuries old illuminated manuscripts created by scribes. Then visit to the Genocide Museum with a memorial “Tsitsernakaberd” to the victims of armenian genocide. The next stop Is in the cognac factory ARARAT with a degustation of 3 sorts of armenian best cognac. Walking tour in Yerevan and visit of souvenir shops. Overnight in Yerevan. Day 5: Yerevan - Khor Virap – Noravank - Caravansary - Sevan Visit Khor Virap - the site where St. Gregory the Illuminator was imprisoned by the Armenian king for preaching Christianity. You can climb down into the dark pit. Enjoy most spectacular view of the glorious Mt. Ararat. Visit the monastery of Noravank (12th century). Noravank set in a canyon rich with rare flora. Then we can continue our tour to Areni wine factory. We will have an opportunity to taste Armenia’s finest wine in a village nearby. We continue our trip by Selim Pass in medieval Armenia. Visit the Caravansery which goes back to the 14th century. Overnight in Sevan. Day 6: Sewan - Dilidschan – Haghartsin – Goshavank - Sadakhlo (18:00) – Tbilisi Visit Dilidschan. Then we continue our trip to the medieval Haghartsin Monastery. The Haghartsin refectory is very unique. There are number of very interesting khachkars (cross stones) in the Monastery. Visit the Monastery Goshavank. Goshavank is a 12-13th century Armenian monastery located in the village of Gosh in the Tavush Province or Armenia. Today the monastery is not a functioning religious complex, although it remains a popular tourist destination and has recently undergone some light restoration. The impressive monastery which has remained in relatively good condition also houses one of the world’s finest examples or a Khachkar. Transfer to Sadakhlo border. Change guide and driver and drive to Tbilisi hotel. Overnight in Tbilisi hotel.

Day 7: Tbilisi – Gudauri – Kazbegi – Tbilisi 07:30 drive to Kazbegi. A stunning drive from Gudauri along the Tergi River will bring us to Kazbegi – the main town in the region. On the way we pass Ananuri Castle and Jinvali water reservoir of amazing beauty. En route stop and see different local hand made things (thick felt, embroidery, iconographic painting). From Kazbegi a leisurely 1.5 hour walk up through beautiful valleys and woodlands leads us to Gergeti Trinity Church located at 2170m. Weather permitting you may catch a glimpse of one of the highest glaciers in the Caucasus – Mt Kazbegi (5047m). We walk back to the town and before returning to Tbilisi drive to Dariali Gorge. Drive back to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi hotel. Day 8: Free time – Baku – Tbilisi (flight/Train) – Overnight in Train

You will have check out at 12:00 today. You can leave your luggage at the hotel reception. Your driver will pick you up from the hotel 2 hour before departure and he will bring the passports for those who are applying for Azerbaijan visa in Tbilisi. After your arrival to Baku driver will transfer you to Baku hotel. Those who will take flight will need to book extra night in Baku*; those who will take train will overnight in train. It arrives to Baku at 10:05 next morning. *Price for DBL room 80 EUR and SNGLroom 65 EUR

Day 9: Baku Old City Today you start your tour at 12:00. Arrive and check-in to the hotel. Excursion “OLD CITY” *Icherisheher* - the inner city*. Icherisheher means the inner city. It was called the inner after the oil boom of the middle of the XIX century when the city stopped to hold in defense walls and left its limit. Several tens of the historical- architectural monuments at the same time the Shirvanshakhs Palace, the symbol of Baku city The Maiden Tower, the place of merchants rest Karvansaray are concentrated in the Icherisheher, with the square of 22 hectares. Icherisheher is the live organism which has its own infrastructure and inhabited files. The place where 1300 families are living. In a word it is an ancient city in the modern city. Evening walk along the central streets of the city and updated fountain square, shopping. Overnight in Baku hotel. Day 10: Baku - Gobustan - Absheron Peninsula Excursion to art- historical reserve Gobustan, where the petroglyphic drawings, barrows and housing objects have been remained which are dated from X – VIII centuries B.C. up to average centuries. The certificates of the Stone Age citizens and other periods, petroglyphic drawings, the human parking and the gravestone monuments are concentrated in Gobustan. Not far from there is *gavanchalan dash* is original tambourine-stone, like a huge flat wise plate. Rhythmical accurate motives could be taken from it by the percussion. It is considered that ritual dancing’s and ceremonies were accompanied by these sounds. The visiting of Gobustan will transfer you to another world, the world of the past mankind and will let you to feel the atmosphere of the thousand-year history of this place. Visiting the temple of the fire worshippers Atashgah and burning mountain *Yanar dag* Atashgah means the House of Fire, place of fire. The territory of this temple is known for unique nature phenomenon as the burning exits of the natural gas. The temple of fire is of the main places where the ancient supporters of Zoroaster religion worshipped there to the fire. In The museum complex Atashgah you will be told about the life way Zaraustra worshippers and also about the traditions and the customs which they adhered. Excursion to Yanar Dag. You can see here nature phenomenon, incessant burning nature gas on the rock which named to the Yanar Dag reserve the burning rock. As the historians say, maybe this place gave the name *the fire country* to Azerbaijan. Overnight in Baku hotel. Day 11: Baku – Shamakhy – Lahij - Sheki (350km/5.5hours) After breakfast drive to Shamakhy district. Visit the town of Shamakhy, Diri Baba Tomb and Yeddi Gumbez. Than drive to Lahij village in Ismayilly district. Many of the 2,000 people living in Lahij are involved in ancient crafts such as engraved copper work and carpet weaving. In the mid-19th century, there were more than 200 workshops in Lahij. Traders discovered Lahij crafts many centuries ago, and sold them for high prices at bazaars in Baghdad [now Iraq], Shiraz [now Iran] and other Middle Eastern cities. Stop by a copper workshop for an impromptu lesson in ancient craftsmanship you'll get to see coppersmiths use small mallets to decorate plates, trays, jugs, goblets and pitchers, just as their ancestors have done for centuries. Overnight in Sheki hotel. Day 12: Sheki – Lagodekhi border (Meeting time 16:00 Georgian time) Kvareli – Gremi – Telavi Sheki is one of the most famous and ancient places of Azerbaijan. Situated 700 m (2297 ft.) above sea level like an amphitheater surrounded by the mountains and forests of oak trees, this ancient city was long famed as a silk center and an important stop on the Great Silk Route. We’ll start our Sheki tour from visiting the 18th century Khan's summer palace with magnificent frescos and exquisite stained glass work. Sheki History museum is famous with artifacts from several periods. Then continue to drive to Ilisu village which is a municipality in the Qakh district of Azerbaijan and has a wonderful panoramic view. After drive to Azerbaijan Georgia border in Lagodekhi. Border formalities, transport and guide change.2 Drive to Kvareli. We will visit wine cellar called “Gvirabi”- tunnel. This unique wine cave represents the tunnel that is cut off

in eth stone massif of Caucasian mountain range, where yearlong natural temperature is 10-12ºC. The length of this construction is 7, 7 Km. The next spot is Gremi Monastery the 16th century architectural monument – the royal citadel and the Church of the Archangels – in Kakheti. Afterwards we drive to Telavi. Overnight in Telavi hotel. Day 13: Telavi – Tsinandali – Signagi – Gareji – Tbilisi Visit house museum of Prince Aleksandre Chavchavadze, with beautiful garden and wine cellar, where we will taste 5 sorts of wine. Alexander Chavchavadze inherited this village, lying in the Alazany River valley, from his father, Prince Garsevan. He refurbished the estate, constructed a new Italianate palace and built a decorative garden in 1835. It was the place where Chavchavadze frequently entertained foreign guests with music, wit, and – most especially – the fine vintages made at his estate winery (marani). Familiar with European ways, Chavchavadze built Georgia’s oldest and largest winery where he combined European and centuries-long Georgian winemaking traditions. The highly regarded dry white Tsinandali is still produced there. Afterwards drive to Signagi. On the way visit Bodbe monastery of St. Nino. According to Georgian tradition, St. Nino, having witnessed the conversion of Georgians to the Christian faith. Have Signagi city tour and lunch time and drive to David Gareji.3 David Gareji is one of the most important landmarks of Georgia. This site is characterized by a unique combination of historic architecture, prehistoric archaeological sites, rich paleontological fields and important bio-geographical features widely spread within the arid and semiarid landscape of the river Iori plateau. The dozens of cave monasteries decorated with unique frescoes are the best examples of harmonious interaction of man-made structures with the dramatic landscape. They bear the traditional principles of sustainable living and are considered as the masterpieces of Georgian Medieval art. In the evening drive back to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi hotel.

Day 14: Tbilisi – Mtskheta tour Drive to Mtskheta (UNESCO Heritage Site), an ancient capital of the Georgian Kingdom from the 3rd century BC to the 5th century AD. Jvari Monastery (6th c.); Svetitskhoveli Cathedral built in the 11th century. Drive back to Tbilisi. We will visit the Old Tbilisi Sulfur Baths, Georgian Orthodox and Armenian Gregorian churches, and a Jewish synagogue and a Turkish mosque side by side, reflecting Tbilisi's acceptance and tolerance of different religions. We can also see a recent monument, the Tbilisi Sameba Cathedral, the largest cathedral in the Caucasus. Tour includes following sights: Metekhi Church is erected on the cliff, overlooking the Mtkvari River. The colorful Darejani Palace is also situated on the cliff, like the nest of a swallow. The Sulfur Baths are located in Old Tbilisi, on the other side of the river, opposite Darejani Palace. The Orthodox Narikala St. Nikolas Church is in the same district. The church is furnished with frescoed portraits of martyrs and scenes from the Bible. It is wrapped in a defensive Narikala fortress, established in the fourth century. At Leselidze Street, we come across the 13th century Armenian St. George Church and a Jewish synagogue with an elegant facade. On the opposite side of the street is Sioni Church, leading to the bank of the Mtkvari. Here you discover Shardeni Street with its fashionable cozy cafes and art galleries. Walking we will come across the Anchiskhati church, the oldest church in Tbilisi keeping the miraculous icon of Jesus Christ. Finally the tour takes you to Rustaveli Avenue, where attractions such as the Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Parliament, Rustaveli Theatre, different art galleries and cafes will draw your attention and provide a cosmopolitan atmosphere. Visit national museum to see wonderful Golden treasury and drive to Open Air Ethnographic Museum, place, where are built all kinds of Georgian national old country-houses and castles. 20:00 folk dinner at National restaurant in Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi hotel. Day 15: Tbilisi – Gori – Uplistsikhe – Borjomi – Akhaltsikhe After breakfast drive to Gori. The city was founded by one of the greatest kings of Georgia, David the Builder (1089–1125). Visit The Joseph Stalin Museum in Gori. Afterwards visit Uplistsikhe, "the lord's fortress", which is an ancient rock-hewn town in eastern Georgia. Built on a high rocky left bank of Mtkvari River, it contains various structures dating from the 2nd ML BC to the Late Middle Ages, and is notable for the unique combination of various styles of rock-cut cultures. Afterwards drive to Borjomi. Have a stop to taste the Borjomi natural mineral water. Drive to Akhaltsikhe. Visit Rabati. A wander around Akhaltsikhe’s Rabati (old town), with its multicultural architecture, is well worthwhile. This district is on a hill on the north side of the Potskhovi, just west of the bridge. Rare examples of darbazebi (traditional Georgian houses) cluster around the castle, which was built in the 12th century and houses a mosque from 1752 and the ruins of a

medrese (Islamic school). The Rabati also has a synagogue, an Armenian church and a Catholic church. Overnight in Akhaltsikhe hotel. Day 16: Akhaltsikhe – Vardzia – Kutaisi After breakfast drive to Vardzia. Vardzia, a rock-hewn complex on the left bank of the river Mtkvari was founded in the 12th -13th c.c., during the reign of Giorgi III and Queen Tamar. Initially planned as a town-fortress, the complex became a well-fortified monastery, which had a significant role in political, cultural, educational and spiritual life of the country. In the middle of the complex there is a Church of Assumption, richly decorated with mural painting. Afterwards drive to Kutaisi. In Kutaisi we will visit Bagrati Temple and Gelati Monastery (12th c. UNESCO heritage) and of course the new building of Parliament. Kutaisi was the capital of the ancient Kingdom of Colchis. Archeological evidence indicates that the city functioned as the capital of the kingdom of Colchis as early as the second millennium BC. It is widely believed by historians that when Apollonius Rhodius was writing about Jason and the Argonauts and their legendary journey to Colchis, Kutaisi/Aia was the final destination of the Argonauts and the residence of King Aeëtes. From 978 to 1122 CE Kutaisi was the capital of the united Kingdom of Georgia, and from the 15th century until 1810 it was the capital of the Imeretian Kingdom. From the end of 2012 Kutaisi became the Parliament City of Georgia. The new building of Parliament is designed by the Spanish architecture Alberto Domingo Kabo. Overnight in Kutaisi hotel. Day 17: Kutaisi – Zugdidi – Mestia After breakfast drive to Zugdidi. Visit Dadiani Palace. The representatives of Dadiani Dynasty were acquainted with world history, culture latest technical achievements. They were tightly involved in the social events. The Palace keeps 41 000 museum objects. Most of them are unique and invaluable examples of Georgian and foreign art. It's time to get ready for the most exciting part of the trip - a journey to Svaneti, the region of the highest mountains and glaciers and the most abiding ancient traditions. Take some snacks for the long road, we will not stop for lunch before arrival to Mestia, but here the great surprise is awaiting us, we will visit small family trout farm and taste for the lunch real Georgian trout, which our host will prepare for us on fire. Overnight in Mestia hotel. Day 18: Mestia – Ushguli – Mestia After breakfast drive to Ushguli by Jeeps. Visit Laghami Saint George's church (7th-12th c.c.) and Svan dwelling complex. Visits to the church of St. George in Nakipari (1130 AD) and Ethnographic Museums in Ushguli. Ushguli is considered to be the highest populated place in Europe (2200 m above sea level). Overnight in Mestia hotel. Day 19: Mestia – Enguri Dam – Batumi tour After breakfast visit Latali and Lenjeri single-nave basilicas of the 8th-9th-14th c.c., built by stones without ornamentation, with the interior richly decorated with murals. Afterwards drive to Batumi the most beautiful city of Georgia. En route we visit Enguri Dam with the height of 271 meters (the highest dam of this type in the world). The Dam makes a water-storage reservoir in the picturesque gorges of Samegrelo and Svaneti mountains. Have a free time in Batumi to take a walk across the beach in a famous Batumi boulevard. Overnight in Batumi hotel. Day 20: Batumi – Tbilisi Have free morning in Batumi. 12:00 check out from the hotel and drive to Batumi Botanical Garden. Afterwards drive back to Tbilisi. Overnight in Tbilisi hotel.
