Welcome to Eden. The year is 2044 and Earth is a lifeless wasteland. The only chance of survival is to be accepted into Eden, a city enclosed in a protective dome where the inhabitants are free from the dangers of the Outside but the promise of paradise may not be all that it seems.Eden follows two individuals, their emotional journey of social exclusion, and their struggle to survive in a world where there is little room for forgiveness. Dynamic movement is fused with poetic text and woven throughout is a powerfully composed soundtrack.Using satirical commentary and physical interpretation, Displace Yourself Theatre present parallels of the challenges surrounding homelessness and explore the social divides that exclude many communities.

“The physicality and text work beautifully together”AUDIENCE MEMBER

Eden is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and by Leeds Inspired through Leeds City Council. Eden has been developed with the kind support of Theatre in the Mill Bradford, ARC Stockton Arts Centre and The HUB at Slung Low.

Cosmopolitan Players, in partnership with Leeds City Museum, presents a new production of Oh What a Lovely War in its 50th anniversary year to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the First World War.Viewed from the perspective of the common soldier, and the songs they sang during a war that killed ten million in four years, this musical entertainment production is a powerful comment against war.First performed at Theatre Royal, Stratford East, in 1963, Oh What a Lovely War was acclaimed by audiences and critics and has gone on to be a classic of modern theatre.

Led by professional theatre director, Ruth Cooper, the members have the opportunity to work with other industry professionals such as actors, designers and stage managers. In creating a new piece of theatre CYTM work as an ensemble, developing team-work skills and increasing their vocabulary of contemporary performance styles and techniques. They form a supportive group in which their creativity is nurtured and they are off ered a genuine platform for their ideas.Members in Group B may choose to work with Ruth to earn a Bronze or Silver Arts Award.Last minute workshop auditions for the September start are held on Wednesday 3 September. Get in touch to book your place!Email [email protected] call 07891 272410For examples of CYTM’s work and more information, please visitwww.carriageworkstheatre.org.uk
