‘Whenever I take up a newspaper, I seem to see ghosts gliding between the lines.’Helen Alving is trapped in a world where the ‘dead ideas’ preached by Pastor Manders rule outright, and her own family’s insidious legacy threatens scandal. She is desperately trying to conceal her husband’s philandering past by building an orphanage in his name, under the pastor’s guiding hand. But the celebrated return of her estranged son Oswald brings Helen’s ghosts back to haunt her and all hopes of success are reduced to ashes.

Though penned in 1881, it is not hard for us to see the parallels in our own society; the pious leaders of the past replaced with our own custodians of the status quo, and money their new religion.Alfred Enoch, best known for playing Dean Thomas in the Harry Potter franchise, masterfully adapts Ibsen’s Ghosts for it’s Autumn tour 2013.Following sell-out tours of Spring Awakening, A Midsummer Nights Dream and Lord of the Flies, Sell a Door Theatre Company conclude their 2013 touring season with this exciting adaptation of one of Henrik Ibsen’s greatest works.

Shakespearein TerrorYou’ve seen him in love, but what about terror? A quick soliloquy with a skull is not always the answer, as our hapless bard – dumbstruck by writer’s block – discovers in a chance meeting with a certain ‘Guido Fawkes’, arguably the first home-grown terrorist.Historically possible, this brief encounter raises questions of whether words do speak louder than action – or even gunpowder. Laced with dark magic and even darker lust (not to mention three untraditionally-glamorous witchy ‘midnight hags’), this comedy-drama brings an extra bang to the firework season.

Delight your family this Christmas with a double-bill of classic musical stories for children, accompanied by a live orchestra and narrated by Sanjeev Bhaskar.

Peter and his animal companions are brought to life before your ears by dancing strings, quacking oboes, fluttering flutes and prowling horns in Prokofiev’s charming tale of courage and compassion.

With the enchanting animated film The Snowman shown on a big screen, orchestral forces injecttingle-down-the-spine magic into Walking in the Air –the soundtrack to every child’s Christmas.

The perfect way to begin the exciting build-up to Christmas day.
