Mariner Shores Resort & Beach Club Hotel Interior Renovation, Miami, Queensland, Australia. 2013 Mariner Shores Resort and Beach Club is a time share private club located across from the pristine Miami beach in the Gold Coast region of Queensland. The Board of the club requested Carolyn McLean Architect Pty Ltd to provide concept design options for the proposed renovation of the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suites. Carolyn McLean designed a number of Concept Design options for the bathrooms including finishes, sanitary ware and fittings.

Kalbooh Bay New 5 star JW Marriott Hotel Hotel Exterior and Interior including serviced apartments and waterfront retail Muscat, Oman. 2007-2008 JW Marriott as the operator and Promco Developments appointed Woods Bagot Dubai to create an exciting waterfront destination in the heart of the waterfront historic city of Muscat, Oman. Carolyn McLean led the Woods Bagot design team that designed the new exterior and interior for the Hotel, Serviced Apartments and retail ‘Souk’ and public promenade.

The Hotel Architecture responds to the mountain and water’s edge with curvilinear terracing. The project aims to activate an under utilised site and attract tourists and Omani’s to this spectacular location.

The serviced apartments design was influenced by the local Omani architectural language of white orthogonal hillside terraced construction and decorative windows and screens.

The hotel contemporary, fluid and horizontal architecture was inspired by the waterfront location and curvilinear shape of the mountain backdrop.

Key features include the five star hotel with luxury spa enclosed in a cave and set down in a grotto overlooking the sea. Water travel to and from the hotel is encouraged, continuing the original site’s sea faring legacy. Limited environmental intervention is intended, with no soil to be removed from the site. Environmentally sustainable architecture designed to LEED Silver standards is proposed.

An amphitheatre will be incorporated into the design to celebrate and showcase both Omani and regional culture. The Souq is based on age-old Arabic design principles with narrow public walkways flanked both sides by tenancies. The Souk rooftop will be a public park providing green spaces for families.
