Practising Music
• Important to practise daily
• Early morning is most suitable for practice
• Practise both new and old lessons everyday
• Duration of at least an hour per day; could do in two half-hour sessions morning and evening
• Practise singing phrases of music using syllable ‘ā’; known as ‘Akāra Sādhakam’

Listening and Learning
• Gives you confidence in rendering a song or piece of music
• Helps you memorise and remember it for a long time
• Learn to pronounce the lyrics or sāhityam correctly, even if playing an instrument; try to understand its meaning
• Listen to great musicians as often as you can; you will get a better understanding of the raga structure and its elaboration
• Clear your doubts/questions in music with your teacher and gain in-depth knowledge
