In the second half of 2010, I decided to leave my ten-year association with

Amador+Calzada Arquitectos to pursue my own goals within the architectural

profession. At that moment, I moved the Practice to my residence at the 4th

floor of 151 del Parque street in San Juan and since have continued to work

with the same excitement, dedication and honesty that I hope have

characterized my work always. AmadorArchitects is a collaboration of several

design & construction professionals under my direction. Sharing ideas &

solutions under my vision, we operate as a new Firm.

With an earlier experience of over 15 years of work in design, space planning,

and project management for Citigroup/Citibank, in 1999 Amador+Calzada,

Arquitectos was formed and successfully worked in a great number of projects

of many types for the next 11 years. Amador+Calzada, Arquitectos’ work

includes many architectural projects for both the private and the public sectors.

A full listing of our projects and photographs while in partnership with my dear

friend Blanquita Calzada are included in this book.

I currently enjoy AmadorArchitects as the next step in my professional career

and honestly believe it will help me achieve my vision of the professional

practice in the future and further enhance my business advantage in the

Construction Industry.

Design is an art form. Together, with the requirements and the intricacies of

function, Architecture is created. Architecture, as the largest of all art forms,

provides man with its environment; it sculpts out space from nature and

molds man’s own created world: The world that man wants to live in, that man

wants to work in, and the world he creates for passion.

The Architect, as the artist, conceives space as an extension of nature and

projects his work in relation to history. The Architect, as the scientist,

conceives space as dictated by function and projects his work in relation to

technology and economy. It is this eternal dichotomy that challenges his

intellect and allows him to propose his genius. It is in the way that the

Architect is able to balance art and function that lies his success.

Amador Architects is a firm dedicated to advance the cause of Architecture as

responsible for man’s healthy perception of the world around him. It seeks

balancing man’s carnal nature with his search for God, it seeks to provide him

with a stage in which he can satisfy his physical needs while attaining his

spiritual nirvana. It provides functional adequacy without sacrificing art.

The firm struggles to create an Architecture that fashionably responds to needs

and requirements and knowledgeably pertains in history. It strives to be

culturally sensible while revealing a greater truth.

Amador Architects strongly believes that all is possible, the solution lies

somewhere. It is the Architect who can decipher the code, it is he who can

deal with the demons.

Latest work Since Mid– 2010 until today, I have been working in various smaller commer-

cial and private projects. These projects have still not been documented but

we will soon be adding them to our photographic collection.

For the time being these is the list of projects which have kept us busy for

the last 20 months (in chronological order):

• 3 Luxury Bathrooms for 3 friends.

• Medical Offices for Gastro-Centro at Hospital Metropolitano.

• Interior remodeling of penthouse apartment at Ciudadela de Santurce.

• Interior remodeling of 7th floor apartment at Ciudadela de Santurce.

• Interior design of elevators at Prila Condominium at Condado.

• Layouts for over 12 Triple-S corporate interiors and over 20 “Reforma de

Salud” branches throughout the island.

• On-site project management for 4 Triple-S Reforma offices in the the Ma-

yagüez area.

• Interior remodeling of 30,000 sf office facilities at American Health Medi-

care at Guaynabo.

• Interior remodeling and expansion to residence at La Villa de Torrimar,

Guaynabo.

• Interior remodeling of owner’s penthouse offices at Multinational Insur-

• Schematic stage planning for 2 different sites for the Medical Offices of
