The purpose of our meetings is to create an opportunity for Business People from a wide range of professions & industries to get together once a month to make new contacts; build relationships and networks; encourage and motivate each other; get referrals; share and discuss ideas as well as to inspire and provide relevant & practical information through our guest speakers.

Build Visibility & Trust >>>• Go regularly – be consistent and persistent – people usually do business

with you after the 6th interaction! • Get there early & bring brochures, business cards etc – be innovative/

different and do something to be remembered by (eg cake decorator brought cake; offer a free consultation; have a catchy introduction)

• Get your satisfied clients to tell other people about you – let them open other doors for you.

Listen & Share >>>• Notice the “nodes” – a place/business that should know of your business,

eg if you’re selling kids toys – a pre-school would be a node. Brainstorm together.

• Discover potential affiliations & associations: find someone who you have something in common with, has a similar or ancillary service/product. For example: a beautician, dietician, and hairdresser provide a complimentary service & hence can refer business to each other.

• The pie is big enough: give more and be amazed at how you will get more. Don’t be afraid of competition: often even a perceived competitor is

specialized in an area that you may not even want to operate in. • Don’t judge people or sources: every person you meet is a valuable

connection - you never know who/where new business and useful information comes from.

• If u don’t talk – you don’t exist. Have at least three things to talk about – your key business aspects/products; what you want information on/help with; referrals/type of contacts & information you’re looking for and/or can offer

The Elevator speech>>>• This is a 3 sentence (15 second!) introduction of yourself: prepare and

practice this before you go to a network meeting. The key is to focus on one / key thing you do – be clear & brief.

• Give your Name, Profession or Business Name and a punchy statement of what you do or why someone should use your business (your USP). For example: “I am AJ – I sell the most reliable second hand cars & you need to talk to me when next you – or someone you know - is looking for one”)

• Be proud of yourself, and convey a sense of yourself quickly. Be excited & enthusiastic about what you do.

Build on that Connection >>>• Follow up the connections & leads you made as soon as possible: a person

who makes four extra calls has four more chances of doing business• Exchange contact details and join other people’s data bases if you can see

a potential for future interaction/personal follow up.

Our Networking Tips & “How To’s”

Each of our networks runs on the same principles using the same winning formula that effectively builds contacts and grows businesses: one that is based on inter-personal relationships and facilitated, quality table networking. At every meeting information and skills are shared and business knowledge can be gained. Each network has its own character and variety in the memberships & types of businesses that participate and attend a networking meeting.
