The MASTERWORKS SERIES features the traditionalworksofgreatcomposers.Allseven concerts will be held in the newly renovatedUmstattdPerformingArtsHall.Highlights of the series this season will includeguestartistsChristine Brandes, Lucille Beer, Sara Davis Beuchner and André Watts; a world premiere work by composer Claude BakerandareplicationofthefirstCantonSymphonyOrchestraconcert on the exact 75th Anniversary date.

PERFORMANCE PRELUDESbegin one hour before each MasterWorks concert. Guest speakers provide information and insight on the music to be performed that evening. Free to all MasterWorks ticket-holders.

The CASUAL SERIES is a recital-style offeringofafternoonandearlyeveningperformances. This series showcases top musicians of the Orchestra performing in a relaxed atmosphere.

Three new POPS CONCERTS will bridge the gap for listeners between the Casual and MasterWorks formats and include specialguestartists.Kent,Ohiofolkband,The SpeedbumpsjoinstheSymphonyin the Fall on a concert featuring their original music. The Bluecoats Drum & Bugle Corps will appear on the Holiday Brass and the series will culminate with aremarkablemulti-mediaproductioncelebratingthemusicofGeorge and Ira Gershwin.

This children’s opera, based on Washington Irving’s classic folk tale, features three singers fromtheClevelandInstituteofMusicandasmallorchestralensemble.ItiscloselytiedtoOhioCommonCoreStateStandardsinLanguageArtsandSocialStudies.
