TellerScan Maintenance

Cleaning the TellerScan® 240

Over 2me, ink, dirt and dust par2cles will collect on the scanner rollers and document

track. Therefore, it is necessary to clean these areas on a regular basis to assure

reliable performance. Tips for performing preventa2ve maintenance by the user on the

TellerScan® TS240 include (see the TS240 Rou2ne Maintenance & Troubleshoo2ng

video at www.digitalcheck.com for addi2onal info):

• Perform a periodic inspec2on of the en2re document track area. The use of a flashlight will

enhance the visual inspec2on between the scan heads and throughout the document track.

• Remove any staples, paper clips, and rubber bands that may have accumulated

during use.

• Have a can of compressed air available to blow out the document track on a regular basis.

• Purchase the TellerScan® cleaning cards (available at eagledirects.com) to have

on hand for regular cleaning maintenance. Run several scan cycles, flipping the

card between cycles, while holding the card to “scrub‟ the first drive or entry

rollers. Once the entry rollers no longer deposit dirt onto the card, allow the card

to scan through the en2re path. Run this through several 2mes while flipping the

card end-to-end and top to boUom. (See the TS240 Rou2ne Maintenance &

Troubleshoo2ng video at www.digitalcheck.com for addi2onal info.)

• Use the special cleaning swabs, which come with the TellerScan® cleaning kit, to

“scrub‟ the four drive rollers under the center cover.

• Inspect the quality of the captured images on a regular basis. If the image quality

drops off, inspect and clean the scan heads. (See the manual for instruc2ons.)

If the quality does not appear to be related to dirt or debris, contact your service

provider to determine if the scan heads can be recalibrated.

Waffle Check Scanner Cleaning Card

Waffle Cleaning Cards is an advancement in cleaning

card technology. The Cleaning waffles are flexible

raised platforms. These platforms allow the card to

clean previously unreachable areas within the check

scanner. Now more dirt is removed making your check

Waffle cleaning cards incorporate flexible, raised pla orms on their top and bo om surfaces. These cleaning pla orms are essen ally spring‐loaded, significantly increasing the pressure applied to the inter‐nal components as the card passes through the mechanism. Not only is cleaning pressure increased, but the pla orms actually spring up into surface cavi es to clean recessed sensors. Addi onally, the leading and trailing surfaces of rounded op cal lenses are effec vely cleaned. Flat cards do not touch recessed sensors and, at best, only come into contact with the convex p of a rounded op cal lens. As the card is accepted into the mechanism and as it is dispensed by the mechanism, it is cleaning all surfaces.
