Dear Parents Congratulations to the McCauley Guild on winning the Yr 4-6 Swimming Carnival Shield. Congratulations to all our Champion swimmers, and a big congratulations to our McCauley captain, Asha Huggins for her record breaking swims! The Picnic on The Green is being held this Friday, the 24 th of February, so come along and enjoy what we are sure will be a lovely summer evening of socialising with the school community. As I have mentioned in a few different arenas of late, our schools Code of Conduct has been in place since the beginning of January 2017. For our Picnic on The Green it is timely to raise a few points that particularly pertain to the social occasion and the well being of our children. The 1st two Code of Conduct points are: 1. You act safely and competently 2. You give priority to the studentssafety and well being in all your decision making With these strongly in mind I am informing the community that we are fencing off the sand playground equipment area once again and am also padlocking the Adventure Playground gate so that children arent entering these areas where there is no supervision. I also ask that no balls or skateboards are brought along by our students or older siblings as these cause a disruption to the people enjoying their picnic. As our Early Childhood grounds are currently under construction this is deemed a danger zoneand is off limits to all. However in the past at these events I have frequently found older siblings in this area, sometimes accompanied by their younger siblings. The next point is the lack of toilets available in the school grounds for these occasions. The school architect is looking at a way this can be improved. Rather than using the staff toilets, which would leave the Administration Block compromised, or hiring temporary toilet amenities, we ask that you take responsibility for accompanying your child to the loos. If you prefer you may choose to send two children to TERM 1 WEEK 4 – 21 February 2017 WEEK 4 WEEK 5 Mon 20 Tues 21 Wed 22 Thurs 23 Fri 24 Swimming Carnival - Yr 4-6 School Board Meeting 6:30pm Parliament House Excursion - Yr 6 Surfing - Yr 6 Cricket Clinics Yrs 1-5 Assembly Picnic on the Green 5:30pm Mon 27 Tue 28 March Wed 1 Thu 2 Fri 3 Mon 6 Sat 18 Sun 19 School Photos Swim Squad Ash Wednesday Mass Yr 4 Surfing Yr 6 Swim Squad PUPIL FREE DAY for Students in K—Yr 6 Pre-Kindy sessions still held on this date LABOUR DAY HOLIDAY Sacramental Commitment Mass Sacramental Commitment Mass CALENDAR OF EVENTS the loos together – just as we do at sports carnivals – the refrain being, go together, stay together, return together”. There is a Pupil Free Day coming up on Friday the 3 rd of March. On that day teachers will be involved in professional development on Digital Device Usage with colleagues from within our network group of St Dominic s and OLGC, Karrinyup. As you would be aware our staff have consistently held iPad and laptop training sessions here at school and attended outside PD provided by CEWA on the use of digital technology over the past four years but this particular session will consist of a mix of training tips and staff sharing their acquired wisdom with their colleagues. We are looking forward to the day. Regards Mary Bizzaca Principal

Castle Challenge - Year 1 Armed with a bagful of big and small boxes, the Year One children were challenged to make a Castle. The only assistance provided was for cutting extra thick cardboard. The children followed their plans and the completed Castles were proudly displayed. The Castle challenge continues with a huge structure in our Classroom. Interschool swimmers from year 3 have already received and returned their notes. Training commences next Tuesday 28 February and continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays until the Interschool Carnival on Monday 3 April. Training is held at Bold Park pool. Children leave school at 2.40pm to travel to the pool by bus or coach/parents cars. Please let Mrs Washer know if you are available to assist at training sessions or to drive a car with swimmers from school to the pool. SCHOOL BANKING

Thursday mornings before school What a fantastic start to the term for school banking! Taya and I love seeing all the children’s smiley faces and seeing them developing their saving skills. Hey kids…if you use your beautiful manners and say hi to Taya or Tracey, we might give you a faction token. Once your child makes 10 school banking deposits, they can choose a prize from the reward chart; this term the new prizes are cyber handballs and colour changing markers. Some children are very close to receiving a prize, so come along on Thursday mornings. Making 15 deposits by the end of Term 3, will give your child a chance to win a family trip to Tokyo Disneyland!! New to banking? Find out more online: 1. commbank.com.au/schoolbanking and click on the

link to open a Youthsaver account or 2. In branch visit any Commonwealth Bank branch

and their friendly staff will assist. Please take along identification for you and your child eg; driver’s licence and your child’s birth certificate.

Looking forward to seeing you on Thursdays. Tracey Barrett and Taya Miller School Banking Coordinators
