RETHINKING THE WAY WE BUY AND SELL.When buying or selling a home, vehicle, electronics, antiques, services, or just about anything under the Louisiana sun, Cajun Classifieds has you completely covered from cover to cover.

Each month we take the traditional approach to buying and selling through classified advertising and turn it on its head.

Our publication’s attractive print quality and convenient size provides plenty of space to display “for sale” items in simple text, or paired with eye-catching, full-color images.

By organizing our classified ads into clear, easy to navigate color-coded categories, we’re helping buyers find what they’re looking for with ease, and sellers sell their goods much faster.

JULY 2012

Every year the small town of Hackberry makes its way over to the Lake Charles Civic Cen-

ter for the annual Marshland Fes-tival. Featuring music from all over Cajun Country, the two-day festival celebrates the life and landscape that makes Southwest Louisiana our home. The festival helps raise funds for 14 schools and church organizations and features exhibits, games, arts and crafts booths, food, live entertainment and is a tribute to the marshes that are famous in Southwest Louisiana and along the Creole Nature Trail All-American Road. Bring your dancing shoes, because the crowd is always on their feet dancing and celebrating our unique landscape. Live music, begins at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 27, and ends at midnight. On Saturday, July 28, the music will begin at 11 a.m. and go through the day, ending at midnight.

The Marshland Festival has been chosen as a Top 20 Event by the

Southeast Tourism Society for the third quarter of 2012. This award is a coveted honor among 12 member states. For more information, visit www.marshlandfestival.com.

The official groundbreaking ceremony for the upcoming West Calcasieu Events Center

was held Thursday, June 7, at 10 a.m. The center is an indoor facility which will complement the existing outdoor arena. “This phase of the West Calcasieu Community Center development is one which has been anticipated for many years. The Events Center will not only benefit West Calcasieu, but also Southwest Louisiana, by provid-

ing another venue for various events. The City of Sulphur welcomes this new facility. It will truly compliment the West Cal Arena,” said Mayor Chris Duncan of Sulphur. Adrian Moreno, the executive direc-tor of the West Cal Arena is looking forward to the next phase of the de-velopment getting off to a great start: “This groundbreaking event is excit-ing news for everyone in Southwest Louisiana. The indoor facility will allow more flexibility with the types of events that can be accommodated at the West Calcasieu Arena and ul-timately in Southwest Louisiana as a whole.” The facility will be a 45,000 square foot multi-purpose center with a 15,000 square foot main banquet hall that can be divisible into three sepa-rate rooms. The new structure will also feature four separate meeting rooms that can be used individually or as three self-supported meeting/event rooms with a full catering kitchen and support area. The facility will cost just under $10 million. “We have a number of events that

we are looking forward to having in our area like Mardi Gras balls, wed-dings, family reunions, meetings, con-ventions, tradeshows and a variety of special events. This facility is going to be a wonderful asset to showcase this part of Louisiana,” said Tab Fin-chum, president of the West Calca-sieu Association of Commerce. “Having multiple options for groups and event planners is a real plus whenever the bureau is looking either to bring new group business to the area or assist an existing client. Many events are planned years in advance, and the staff at the bureau is looking forward to promoting the West Cal-casieu Events Center leading up to the opening and beyond,” said Shel-ley Johnson, executive director of the Lake Charles/Southwest Louisiana Convention & Visitors Bureau. The anticipated opening will occur in the spring of 2014. For more infor-mation on the West Cal Arena, visit www.westcalarena.com or (337) 528-9378.
