Cabarrus County Schools SIP 1st Cycle Feedback
Understand by Design/:
+ The team noted that As the work progresses, they need to measure the actual alignment. Teachers share their data within PLC’s and discuss how to improve instruction based on those results. Δ Consider data that will help the team determine improvements in the UbD process (fidelity) and look at comparative data from last year’s benchmarks as identified in the plan. Student Engagement:
+ Close alignment between identified OFI and action step(s). The team addressed all OFI’s of the plan (even if not recorded). Δ Record all the steps that you are doing especially related to addressing the OFI (s). Community/Positive Culture:
+ The feeling of the school is more “spirited” than in years past. Higher attendance of staff at school events. Δ Include the data such as increase in staff attendance at events and students getting off track when admin enters classroom, etc. in the data to help drive decisions for improvement. The team is intentional, willing to accept feedback, and have a global perspective to improvement.
Cabarrus County Schools School Improvement Plan
Hickory Ridge High School
2014-2015
Level II Objectives:
1) Mentor Program – HRHS implemented a mentoring program in 2010. With a continued concentration on dropout prevention and overall student success, we would like to revive the mentor/mentee program and refocus our efforts on a smaller targeted population with increased community mentor involvement.
2) Literacy Enhancement – HRHS focused on enhancing literacy skills across curriculum last school year. We saw success with our literacy program implementation and would like to continue emphasizing the use of questions, inferences, and connections to increase literacy skills among all students.
