TransportationTransportation through the Nile was only possible in areas between the six cataracts. The cataracts are near the surface rocky heights that interrupt the flow of the river. Rock drawings at Sabu (Sudan) depict groups of rowing boats being steered with, as many as 22 oars.1 These drawing have been dated to, approximately, the 3rd-2nd millennia BC

~The very development of this area has to involve both countries, who share Nubia as well as have a common interest in Nubian history from Pharaonic times and therefore a common interest in its eco-cultural tourism development. The project has been made possible through close cooperation between the Nubia Museum in Aswan and the National Museum of Khartoum. ~The creation of a Nubia Museum in Wadi Halfa (at the border of Egypt in Northern Sudan) is to complement, as a community-based museum, the one already existing in Aswan. It will be concerning both antiquities and intangible heritage.

The year-round temperature in Nubia can vary wildly. During the warm months, from May toSeptember, temperatures during the day often reach 100 degrees Fahrenheit. During the remainderof the year, overnight temperatures may drop close to freezing.

Though severe rainfall is not a disturbance, the prevailing winds can cause problems withagriculture fields and villages. Year-round the winds blow from the north. Because the current ofthe river flows in the opposite direction, the winds make it possible to navigate the Nile in bothdirections with ease.

~Osiris was highly praised and respected because, she according to the traditional writings, was an untiring source of nutrition, both for Nubia and for Egypt. Nubian rulers used to have crowns which had Isis on them. As she was considered the mother of all rulers, and hence this was their tribute to her.~The influence that Isis drew on the culture is visible through the number of queens the Nubian Empire had. Atleast ten sovereign ruling queens are identified from this age. In addition to this there were also 6 queens who ruled Nubia along with their husbands. These queens were called “gore” and “Kandake”, meaning queen mother. The Kushite rulers would marry and then power ~queen Amanirenas lost one of her eyes, but this made her even more courageous. She was later chased by the Romans deep into her own kingdom, and they faced retaliation from the Nubian armies

~The Nubian culture is passed from generation to generation, and resonates particularly strongly in its music. Drums and clapping hands dominated the music of old Nubia. Now, musicians are plugging in new instruments.
