For Immediate Release – [Date] (school name here) students are getting “buzzing” for a good cause. Buzzcuts for Cancer supports Tommy Fund , CT — [Date] On , students, parents and a “mystery teacher” at School will shave their heads or cut their hair to help fellow children suffering from cancer. “This is the year and we always have lots of kids involved,” said parent organizer . “Our kids do lots of fundraisers, but they really seem to love Buzzcuts.” The theme of this year’s event is “Hair Today. Better Tomorrow.” which the event participants will wear on a wristband. And while it’s primarily males who take the buzz cut challenge, girls raise funds for the Tommy Fund, as well. They get a double dose of good deed by donating 8 inches of their ponytails to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths, which uses donated hair to make wigs for cancer survivors. Last year, students and parent at Eli Whitney raised more than $ for the Tommy Fund. Students were rewarded with a chance to help shave then-vice-principal head.
