Patriots’ Path Council Membership PolicyPatriots’ Path Council believes that all people, regardless of race, creed, religion, national origin, ancestry, disability, or sexual orientation, should be welcome as members of the Boy Scouts of America. During the BSA National Annual Meeting in May of 2013, representatives from all over the country voted to eliminate sexual orientation as a membership criterion for youth members. This was a step in the right direction, as it allows more youth to reap the benefits of Scouting.

Patriots’ Path Council is disappointed that gay adults continue to be excluded from membership and we will continue to work toward further change.

Patriots' Path Council continues to accept only appropriate and safe behavior from all youth and adult members to ensure our members have a safe environment in which they will experience the Scouting program based on the principals outlined in the Scout Oath and Law. Straying from these standards, through inappropriate behavior, regardless of sexual orientation, will result in immediate expulsion.

It is the mission of Patriots’ Path Council to prepare young people to make ethical choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them strong personal values, good moral character, and citizenship, all while participating in fun and exciting activities. We will continue to be guided by what we believe to be in the best interest of our youth members.
