AT A GLANCESt. Bonaventure enters the game against Bryant on a five-game winning streak for the third time in program history and the first time since the 2007-08 season. The Bonnies have held all of their opponents to under 50 points anf 45 percent shoot-ing. The Brown and White started their season off with four games in six days and survived going 4-0 through the stretch.

SERIES HISTORYThis is the third meeting between the Bulldogs and Bonnies. The teams each have a win in their previous meetings. Last season, St. Bonaventure beat Bryant for the first time on its home floor at the Chace Athletic Center 67-58. Bryant also won in 1985 when the teams competed at the Lady Griffs Invitational with the Bulldogs winning 76-58.

easton, Pa. - After another game-high performance from sophomore Megan Van Tatenhove, the St. Bonaventure women’s basketball team defeated Lafayette 58-38 on Tuesday night at Kirby Sports Center. St. Bonaventure is now 5-0 on the young season for the third time in program history and the first time since the start of the 2006-07 season. Lafayette falls to 1-4. Van Tatenhove finished with 17 points and a game-high nine rebounds while senior Dana Mitchell finished with 16 points and eight off the glass. With the help of Van Tatenhove and Mitchell, the Brown and White outrebounded Lafayette 35-24. redshirt senior Tiara Johnson pulled down six, while senior Andrea Doneth grabbed four. The Brown and White snatched 14 of the 17 offensive caroms. For the fifth consecutive game, the Bonnies held their opponent to under 45 percent shooting letting Lafay-ette go 14-for-35 from the field (41 percent). The Bonnies continue to hold their opponents under 50 points. Lafayette opened up play on a 9-3 run, eventually leaving the Bonnies trailing for more than 15 minutes for the first time in the season. Lauren Jackson led the way through the opening minutes for the Leopards tossing in five points.

seeing DoubLeSenior Dana Mitchell has 95 double figure scoring games through her career to sit tied for second on the all-time list. She could surpass the top spot with three more games of double-digits, beating out Hilary Waltman who has 98. The record has stood for almost 10 years.

We’ll take your CHarItYSt. Bonaventure currently sits second in A-10 rankings in free-throw percentage, going 78.3 percent from the line. Sophomore Jessica Jenkins leads the A-10, remaining perfect at 12-for-12 from the charity stripe. Redshirt sophomore armelia Horton and freshman Chelsea bowker are also both perfect from the line. Senior Dana Mitchell is 14-for-18 while classmate andrea Doneth is 11-for-14 adding to the strong percentage.

Give it a seConD CHanCeThe team has exploded in their second halves, outscoring opponents 162-108. The Bonnies also pull down more rebounds in the second half than their opponent, outrebounding them 90-56.

Dana Mitchell has scored at least 15 points in each of the five match ups, while Megan van tatenhove and Jessica Jenkins have hit doubles in three games. Other starters andrea Doneth and armelia Horton posting in one game.

G-ForCeDana Mitchell scored her 1,500th career point in a 65-47 win at Ca-nisius on November 17. Mitchell became the fifth player in program history to reach the milestone. Mitchell is now only 46 points away from moving into the fourth spot and 79 from third on the all-time scoring list in the program record books. Even with two consecutive seasons of scoring 500+ points, the Fairless Hills, Pa., still trails the top spot held by Hilary Waltman by 559 points.

suPer seniorsWhen seniors andrea Doneth and Dana Mitchell joined the team in 2006-07, the Bonnies had not had a winning season in eight years. in their rookie season, St. Bonaventure went 16-15 to break the trends of years past. Now, three seasons later, the Bonnies have 57 triumphs, totaling more than the program’s combined total from the last six years (2000-06).

In our DeFenseThe Bonnies lead the Atlantic 10 conference in scoring defense with 42.6 points per game, having held all of their opponents opponents under 45 percent shooting. Only six players have scored double-digits against the Brown and White, while Akron did not have any players score more than six points. Akron only scored 37 points marking the second time in as many seasons that an opponent was held under 40. Last season, the Bonnies shut down Yale, allowing only 35 points to be scored.

startInG off stronGSt. Bonaventure is 5-0 on the young season for just the third time in program history. it survived its four games in six days, to start 4-0 for the third consecutive season and the fifth time in program history. in the Atlantic 10, St. Bonaventure is one of three schools who are still unbeaten, #9/10 Xavier and Temple also have 5-0 records.

HeLPInG out where she canSenior andrea Doneth is just 34 assists away from breaking into the top 10 on the all-time assists list. She currently has 229, leading the team with 10 so far this season. Beth Gromlowicz currently holds the 10th spot with 263 from 1989-92.

PaIntInG the town brownThe Bonnies have a knack for in-the-paint scoring as 156 points have come from the lane. Opponents have been held to 60 points inside the paint as the defense shuts down inside shooting. Forty eight percent of the Bonnies’ points have come from down the lane.

Preseason accoladesSenior Dana Mitchell was tabbed as a Preseason Atlantic 10 All-Conference first team member. Mitchell is in her final season in the Brown and White following a junior campaign in which she garnered All-Conference second team accolades for the second consecutive year. She averaged 15.5 points to rank second in the conference and pulling down 5.6 rebounds per contest. The Fairless Hills, Pa., native also shot 50.3 percent from the field and 82 percent from the free throw line to rank seventh and fourth, respectively, in the conference.

Can’t Wait to get on the road again...The Bonnies only travel to six non-conference games this season, but will travel more than 4,000 miles and spend almost six combined days traveling. St. Bonaventure hopes to continue its out-of-conference road success in the 2009-10 season following a 6-3 non-conference road record last season. The Bonnies have already been successful in two road games, winning at in-state rivals Binghamton and Canisius.

Familiar FacesThe Bonnies face 24 of the same opponents as last year including 10 non-conference foes. St. Bonaven-ture went 18-8 against these oppon-ense, going 8-2 in non-conference play, falling to only Bowling Green and later-ranked Marist. The Brown and White added a victory against Temple for the first time in seven years and beat eventual A-10 tour-nament Champion Charlotte to close out the regular season schedule. St. Bonaventure also upset ranked-Michigan State at the Reilly Center to earn its first votes in the Associate Press (AP) Top 25 Poll .

rewriting HistorySt. Bonaventure made history in several different ways on its way to a record-setting 2008-09 season. First, the Brown and White beat nationally ranked Michigan State 63-52, on Bob Lanier Court. The Bonnies received their first postseason opportunity with a bid to the WNiT. The 1997-98 squad is the only other team in program history to beat two BCS schools in the same season, when they beat Syracuse and Northwestern. Court smartsSenior Katelyn Murray was named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America second team, as selected by the College Sports information directors of America. Murray’s ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America nomination is her second in as many years, as she made third team in the 2007-08 season. Murray graduated with a 4.0 grade point average in biology.

As a team, for the sixth time in the last seven academic years, St. Bo-naventure earned a spot on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Associa-tion (WBCA) Academic Team Honor Roll as the Bonnies ranked 16th in the country among NCAA division i institutions with a cumulative team grade point average of 3.35.

It’s raining threesLast season, St. Bonaventure shot 42 percent from beyond the three-point line, which ranked first in the A-10 and 19th in the nation. The Brown and White made at least six trifectas in a contest 18 times, while shooting at least 40 percent 12 times last season. Three players (Kate-lyn Murray, erica schiefen and Jessica Jenkins) nailed 142 combined three-pointers. Murray ended her career ranking third on the St. Bonaventure all-time three-pointers made list with 197

Double Figures ClubThe Brown and White owned an 8-3 record last season when someone scored 20 or more points in a game. Dana Mitchell led the way in 20-point games with eight and Katelyn Murray tallied behind her with four. When senior ashley edwards had a 10-point game against Fordham, all 10 of the Bonnies in coach Crowley’s regular rotation scored in double figures at least once last season. Mitchell led the way with 31 double figure scoring outputs, while Murray notched 21 double figure games.

1,000-500 ClubDana Mitchell collected the 500th rebound of her career in the Brown and White’s loss to duquesne on February 18. With that mile-stone rebound, Mitchell became just the eighth player in the 38-year history of St. Bonaventure women’s basketball to score 1,000 points and grab 500 rebounds in their career.

two-Minute WarningSt. Bonaventure showed a knack for putting opposing teams away down the stretch last season. The Bonnies were an incredible 21-0 when leading in a game with less than two minutes remaining in the game.
