Project Objectives
Overall goal is to reduce stormwater runoff and related improvements discharging into Dead Run

• Slowdown and infiltrate runoff.
• Enhance biological functions to filter and treat water.
• Improve aesthetics by integrating design into community landscape.

Current Project Status
• Survey has been completed by Fairfax County Survey
• Utility location has been completed
• Jurisdictional determination of waters of the U.S. and wetlands have been completed
• Geotechnical evaluation of the project area has been completed
• Fairfax County Urban Forestry has evaluated the condition of trees and shrubs located within the project area
• Concept plans have been developed by Williamsburg Environmental Group (WEG)
• Community has been notified by direct mail and email to property owners and Citizens Associations

Existing Conditions
• Unimproved swale provides drainage for approximately 21 acres of uncontrolled runoff
• Right of way has poor infiltration resulting in standing water in swale
• Approximately 35 trees and shrubs are located in the right of way
• Multiple utilities, both buried and aerial, cross the right of way
• History of maintenance issues identified by the community
