HELP JAPAN!

Almost a hundred countries have offered assistance to Japan. The country has agreed to help at the moment only 15 of them, par-ticularly with regard to medical services and specialized equipment in search and rescue people. Russia, China, South Korea, Switzer-land, France and Germany, among others, have sent their staff.

We believe that money is not only a way to help, but also can help provide hope and good vibrations. We know that in Japan this time it’s going wrong and they need help from all countries. They are our hands that can make a difference. It is our duty to try at least to ease the burden of those who were not as fortunate as us. From here we give thanks to Japan to Help the accomplishment of this book that helps people to aproparse in Japan and all the people who worked on improving the city.

Thank you.

AJUDA JAPO!

Japan is an island country in East Asia. Loca-ted on the Pacific Ocean, is located east of the People’s Republic of China, Korea and Russia, extends from the Sea of Okhotsk in the north, the East China Sea to the south. The kanji characters that make up Japan’s name mean “sun origin”, so often identified in Japan as the “Land of the Rising Sun.”

Japan comprises about 3,400 islands, of which the largest are Honshu, Hokkaido, Kyushu and Shikoku, which represent 97% of the total area of the country, excluding bodies of water. Most islands are mountainous and volcanic, the highest point in Japan, Mount Fuji is a volcano. Japan is the tenth most po-pulous country in the world, with 128 million estimated in 2007. The Tokyo metropolitan area, which includes the capital city of Tokyo and many other prefectures, is the world’s largest, with more than 30 million residents. The islands of Japan were inhabited from the Upper Paleolithic period. The earliest writ-ten references are found in history books of the century China I. Since the promulgation of the 1947 constitution, Japan has maintai-ned its structure as a unitary constitutional monarchy with an emperor as head of state

and a democratically elected parliament. As an economic power, Japan has the third largest 1gross domestic product in the world. He is a member of the United Nations, the G8, the G4 il’APEC. It is the fourth exporter and sixth largest importer in the world, a world leader in technology. In the tourist can visit Japan, both for its scenery, thanks to the great forests and long beaches that has as its cultural level by ancient history or at leisure with the large number and variety of theme parks that there. One of the most important events in Japan’s Sapporo Snow Festival, which attracts over two million visitors (both foreign and Japanese) and where you can see snow or ice statues of various sizes innunden center Sapporo during the week of February that lasts. Another well known event that attracts many tourists Nubuta festival is being held on summer nights and Hirosaki in Aomori and where there is a procession with a large number of lanterns in the shape of animals and historical characters accompanied a large number of dancers are simply passing through the streets.

1 The gross domestic product or gross domestic product (GDP) is the sum of all final goods and services produced in an economic space for a period of time, usually one year, excluding interme-diate consumption used in production. Until the 1980s it preferred the use of Gross National Product (GNP), which includes goods and services produced by factors outside themselves.

Estratovolcànic Japan is an archipelago con-sisting of 377,835 km2 and 3,091 km2 of land, water is composed of some 3,400 islands that stretch along the Asian coast in the Pacific Ocean and the Archipelago of Ryukyu, and Izu Ogasawara. According to the 2005 census is 127.55 million. The country is located in north-eastern China and in Taiwan (separated by the East China Sea), east of Korea (separated by the Sea of Japan) and southern Siberia, Russia. The four main islands, from north to south, are Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu. The island of Okinawa (600 miles southwest of Kyushu) in the following order. Nearly 84% of the country is mountainous, each island has its mountain, the highest mountain is Mount Fuji (Fujisan) of 3776 m above sea level, followed Kitadake with 3193 m high. Whereas there is little flat land, many hills and slo-pes are fully exploited for cultivation. As it is located in an area of high volcanic activity are frequent tremors of magnitude smaller occasional volcanic activity. Destructive ear-thquakes occur several times each century, often resulting in tsunamis.

The mountainous islands of the archipelago are a bow (called island arc) from the coasts of eastern Asia. The territory includes the small islands including the Bonin or Oga-sawara Iwo Jima island about 1,100 kilometers of the main islands. The particularity that Japan is an archipelago made the point that no country is more than 150 kilometers from the sea.

The four main islands are separated by na-rrow channels and three of them (Honshu, Shikoku and Kyushu) in the Seto Inland Sea. In the southern Ryukyu Islands are located 970 kilometers south of the third largest island, Kyushu. The nearest point on the Asian con-tinent is the Korean Peninsula at an approxi-mate distance of 200 kilometers. The country has always been connected to the mainland via maritime trade routes: north to Siberia, west from the Tsushima Islands to the Korean peninsula and south ports of southern China.

It is approximately 84% of mountain area, 14% of the area devoted to agricultural activities, livestock, forests and 66% in the remaining 20% is devoted to other uses, due to the fact that their islands are a mountain chain in the

A long chain of islands divided in half, one of which is located beside the Pacific Ocean and the other side of the Sea of Japan (which is evident in the topographic map). In the middle of the Pacific there are steep hills, between 1500 and 3000 meters in height that form deep valleys and gorges. In the center three mountain ranges converge: the Hida, the Kiso and Akaishi, which form the Japanese Alps, being Kitadake its highest mountain with 3193 meters, but the second floor in the coun-try. The highest point of land is at Mount Fuji, a dormant volcano from 1707 to 3776 meters at 2the Shizuoka Prefecture.

None of the populated plains or valleys are wide. The greater the Kanto plain, located in Tokyo, and has only 13,000 square kilometers. muntanyosa a la part submergida de la plata-forma continental, sent les illes els seus pics.

The land near the sea and rivers have nume-rous dikes and drainage constructions, many hills and mountains are cut into terraces to increase arable land and increase the builda-ble land. This process of modification of the environment continues with the extension of the coastline and the construction of artificial islands for industries and for the growth of the port. One example is the Kansai airport in Osaka Bay.

The rivers in Japan are usually fast and steep, only a few are navigable and most often have less than 300 kilometers long. However, Japan manages to take these rivers to produce hydroelectric power, although this resource is exploited almost to capacity. The country’s longest river is the Shinano, which was born in Nagano Prefecture to in Niigata Prefecture which flows into 3the Sea of Japan, is 367 kilo-meters long. The largest reserves of water in Lake Biwa is located northeast of Kyoto.

3The Sea of Japan or East Sea is a sea coast of the western Pacific Ocean, north-east Asia. As the Mediterranean, has almost no tides as it is almost com-pletely surrounded by land on all sides.

There are a variety of vegetation in Japan (about 17,000 species) and is due to its climate and relief. Forests cover 67% of the country’s surface and are composed mostly of coni-fers and leafy trees: chestnut trees, beeches, maples, pinòpsides, laricis and red pine, with birch and ash. To the west dominate the forests that grow alongside pinòpsids bambo-os, magnolias and chestnuts green. The white and red plum, cherry trees blooming earlier, and the bamboo and pine trees have become traditional symbols of the country.Group of Japanese macaques in a warming hot spring in Nagano prefecture.

The Japanese fauna is also varied and can find rare items not found in neighboring countries. As the vegetation in this variation is due to cli-mate and relief. In the seas of the island Ryuyu there are a variety of tropical fish, turtles, sea snakes, dugongs, porpoises black ... On the same block Ryukuy are other native animals such as the crested eagle, flying fox and lizard mimetic. Across the country inhabit in large numbers and the raccoon, deer and mandarin ducks.

It is a rainy country with high humidity, has a temperate climate with four distinct seasons are well defined, thanks to the distance which lies on the equator. Anyway the weather is slightly cold temperate north (Hokkaido) with strong summers and heavy snowfall in winter, the center of the country is warm, humid summers and short winters and slightly sub-tropical south (Kyushu) with summers long, hot and wet winters and short and mild. The climate is often affected by seasonal winds produced by cyclones and anticyclones hun-dreds formed on the continent and the Pacific (Hawaiian cyclone or anticyclone), generating winds DES continent to the Pacific in winter and the continent to the Pacific summer. The Typhoon Yagi, happened near the Pacific coast of Japan in September 2006. He reached category 5.

There are two primary factors influence the weather: the proximity to the Asian continent and ocean currents. The climate from June to September is hot and humid tropical wind currents coming from the Pacific Ocean and from Southeast Asia.

The population of Japan in 2006 was 127.4 million. Japan enjoys the highest life expec-tancies in the world of 81.25 years. However, the Japanese population is aging rapidly, the effect of reducing high birth rates after the war. In 2004, approximately 19.5% of the popu-lation had more than 65 years of age. Changes in demographic structure have caused many social problems, especially in the potential decline of the economically active popula-tion and the increase in social welfare costs associated with public pension plans. Based on current population growth rates, Japan’s population will have fallen to 100 million by 2050 and 64 in 2100. The official language of Japan is Japanese. The Ainu, although it is an indigenous language of the Japanese archipe-lago, is almost extinct. Aglutinativa Japanese is a language that is distinguished by its complex system of honorific that reflect the hierarchi-cal nature of Japanese society, where certain words and verb forms indicate the relative status of speaker.

A feature that surprised the Europeans arri-ved in Japan in the late Edo period was to see the high level of education they had and their popular culture, which believed then booked in industrialized societies. Health services are provided by the govern-ment. Tuberculosis was the leading cause of death in Japan in the 1950s with a mortality of 146.2 per 100,000 inhabitants (currently is 2 per 100,000). During the 1960s and 1970s was the stroke and since the 80s until today it is cancer.

However, currently, the health system in Japan is a better world in various ways, for example, is one of the countries with the highest life expectancy.

Since 1973, every elderly person is entitled to a special social security funded by the govern-ment. Patients are free to select physicians or facilities of their choice. In hospitals there are strict rules on when foods, which are moni-tored continuously and are low in salt and sugar. Diets are predominant: rice, vegeta-bles, fish and poultry. Japanese culture has evolved considerably in recent years, from the country’s original culture Jōmon its contem-porary culture, which combines influences from Asia, Europe and North America. The traditional arts include crafts and cooking. The fusion between traditional print wood and Western art led to the creation of manga, Japanese comic format popular in and outsi-de Japan. The manga has influenced anima-tion for television and film giving rise to the anime and live-action movie called, usually embodied by actors in films or on television.

The earthquake and tsunami in Japan 2011, officially called the Japan Meteorological Agency as the earthquake in the Pacific coast of Tohoku region in 2011, was a magnitude 9.0 earthquake that created MW of earthquake waves underwater for up to 10 m. The ear-thquake occurred at 14:46:23 local time (05:46:23 UTC) on Friday March 11 2011. The quake’s epicenter was located at sea, off the coast of Honshu, 130 km east of Sendai, in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan. At first we calcula-ted the magnitude at 7.9 degrees MW, which was subsequently increased to 8.8 then to 8.9 degrees by the United States Geological Survey (USGS). Finally degrees to 9.0 MW, con-firmed by the Meteorological Agency of Japan and the United States Geological Survey. The earthquake lasted about 6 minutes according to experts. The U.S. Geological Survey said the earthquake occurred due to a shift in the zone near the interface between plate subduc-tion between the Pacific Plate and the North American plate. At the latitude where this earthquake happened, the Pacific Plate moves westward with respect to the North American plate at a speed of 83 mm / year. The Pacific plate is inserted under the Japan Trench in Japan, and sinks beneath the west of Asia.

Two days before this earthquake was pre-ceded by another major earthquake, but of lesser magnitude, occurred on Wednesday, 9 March 2011 at 02:45:18 4UTC in the same area of the eastern coast of Honshu, Japan which had an intensity of 7.2 MW at a depth of 14.1 kilometers. Also this day the authorities of the Japan Meteorological Agency gave warning of a tsunami, but only local for the east coast of this country. On 1 February the volcano had entered Shinmoe activity in the province of Miyazaki, this indicates a reactive price of tectonic earthquake.

The magnitude of the 9.0 MW became the most powerful earthquake in Japan suffered to date as the fourth most powerful in the world of all earthquakes measured until now. Since 1973 the subduction zone of the trench of Japan has experienced new seismic events of magnitude 7 or higher.

any.

4The gross domestic product or gross domestic product (GDP) is the sum of all final goods and services produced in an economic space for a period of time, usually one year, excluding interme-diate consumption used in production. Until the 1980s it preferred the use of Gross National Product (GNP), which includes goods and services produced by factors outside themselves.

The main earthquake was preceded by a long series of previous earthquakes, which star-ted with a tremor of 7.2 MW on 9 March 2011, approximately 40 kilometers away from where the earthquake occurred on 11 March, fo-llowed by three on the day of the catastrophe that exceed the 6 MW intensidad.Un minute before the main earthquake, the Earthquake Warning System, connected to about 1,000 seismographs in Japan, sent a series notices of the various Japanese media warning of the imminent danger. It is believed that through these alerts were able to save a lot of people.

The quake’s epicenter was located in the Paci-fic Ocean, 130 kilometers east of Sendai, Hons-hu, at 14:46 local time. It stood at 373 kilome-ters from Tokyo, capital of Japan, according to U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). After the earthquake there were many aftershocks. An earthquake of magnitude 7.0 occurred at 15:06 local time from 7.4 at 15:15 local time and 7.2 at 15:26 local time. After the initial earthquake were recorded over a hundred aftershocks with maginitudes higher than 4.5 degrees.

At first, the USGS reported that the magni-tude was 7.9 but was quickly changed to 8.8

and then 8.9 and then to between 9.0 and 9.1. This earthquake occurred in the Japan Trench where the Pacific Plate beneath the plate subduce Ojotsk. An earthquake of this magnitude usually has a front break of at least 480 kilometers long and requires a relatively straight fault line.

As the boundary between plates and the sub-duction zone in this region is not as straight as is the earthquakes in this region is expected to have between 8 and 8.5 magnitudes, so the magnitude of this earthquake be a surprise to some seismologists. The hypocenter of this earthquake region extends from the coast of Iwate prefectures up off the coast of Ibaraki. The Japan Meteorological Agency said that this earthquake may have generated a rupture in Failed from Iwate in Ibaraki, with a length of 400 kilometers and a width of 200 kilometers. Noted that may have had the same mecha-nism as that of another major earthquake in 869, which also caused a large tsunami.
