Does control make you feel good? We created the Drivers Support features to inform and assist you in all traffic situations. Advanced radar and camera technology helps you keep an eye on vehicles in front and behind, road signs and pedestrians. It helps you keep a safe distance at all speeds and even brakes automatically if necessary. It can also alert you if you’re tired or weave out of your lane.

Surrounded by all this supportive intelligence you can enjoy a more relaxed driving experience and be more in touch with your senses and the world around you.

THE DRIVER SUPPORT FEATURES INCLUDE:

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) Queue AssistEnjoy smooth cruising at any speed. ACC automatically maintains your set speed and distance to the vehicle ahead of you, whether you’re driving on the highway or in slow-moving stop-and-go traffic.

*The stop and go function from 0 to 30 km/h requires an automatic gearbox.

Collision Warning with Full Auto Brake Stay out of trouble. Collision Warning warns you if you approach a vehicle so fast that there is risk of a collision. If you don’t react to the warning and a collision is imminent, full auto-braking is applied to help you avoid or mitigate a collision.

Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto BrakeUsing radar and camera technology, your Volvo can detect pedestrians in front of your car. It can alert you if a pedestrian unexpectedly steps out and, if you don’t react to the warning, brake automatically to help keep the pedestrian out of harm’s way.

Driver Alert Control (DAC)Stay alert and in control. The Driver Alert Control monitors your driving behaviour and alerts you if your behaviour shows signs of drowsiness or distraction and politely suggests a break.

Lane Keeping Aid (LKA)Keep your position. If you begin to drift on the road, Lane Keeping Aid helps you stay in your lane by applying a gentle steering torque. And should you unintentionally cross the lane markings, you will be alerted by generated vibrations in the steering wheel.

Active High Beam (AHB)Enjoy relaxed vision even when it’s dark. With Active High Beam, your Volvo will recognise vehicles in front of you and automatically adapt your beam to give you maximum vision without dazzling other drivers.

Road Sign Information (RSI)Ensure you’re constantly updated. The Road Sign Information displays important road signs in the driver information module to help keep you informed about current limitations.

Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) Reveal the blind spot. Using radar sensors in the rear bumper, BLIS helps you keep a lookout behind and on the sides of your car. If a vehicle enters your blind spot or approaches fast from behind, BLIS will alert you.

Lane Change Merge Aid (LCMA)Watch your back. LCMA constantly scans the road 70 meters behind your V40 and alerts you of rapidly approaching vehicles.

Cross Traffic Alert (CTA)Get eyes in the back. When you, for example, reverse out of a parking space with limited visibility, Cross Traffic Alert can alert you to oncoming traffic from the sides.

City SafetyAlways expect the unexpected. City Safety detects if you’re about to run into a vehicle and brakes automatically to avoid a collision. In slow moving city traffic City Safety is very smart for you, your passengers, your insurance company and anyone in the car in front of you. City Safety is active up to 50 km/h.

LightingWant to feel at ease in the dark? The front and rear lights both look great and optimise your vision in all conditions. For an even more relaxed driving experience, try the Active High Beam. EleganceThis is your sophisticated and stylish display theme, with the speedometer in the centre dial and highlighted needle for easy reading. A gearshift indicator helps you drive in the most energy-efficient way with the manual transmission.

EcoSwitch to Eco, and green is what you get. The instrument layout is similar to the Elegance theme, but in addition to the fuel-saving gearshift indicator, you also get an Eco guide. Guiding you by showing real time fuel consumption and average consumption from the last minutes, the Eco guide supports you to drive in the most fuel-efficient way.

PerformanceAre you in the mood for active driving? Go for the Performance theme and enjoy an uncompromised sporty look with the centre dial rev counter and a digital speedometer that enhances your feeling of being in command. Start/Stop technologyWhy have the engine emitting CO2 at traffic lights? Your V40 is smarter than that. Instead of idling at standstill the engine shuts off automatically and you can enjoy the appreciating looks from pedestrians passing by. Volvo’s Start/Stop technology reduces your fuel consumption by up to 8% in city traffic and comes with all engine and transmission variants of your Volvo V40.

Engine brake energy regenerationTake advantage of energy. Every time you engine brake your V40, the kinetic energy that otherwise would be wasted is fed back to the battery. Your fuel consumption is reduced by an extra 2–3%; a little contribution to fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

Are you ready for R-design? Celebrating sports and style in its own way, the Volvo

V40 R-design is not for everybody. From the unique front with LED spoiler lights to

the silk metal finish design details, the rear diffuser, the dual end pipes and the

18-inch wheels. Everything about R-design has one simple message: “Drive me”.

And inspired by classic racing, Rebel Blue is a solid exterior colour that’s

passionately sporty without asking for permission.

R-design interior

Looking for passion? Inside the Volvo V40 R-design, you’re surrounded by racing inspired styling

details in perforated leather and aluminium. The R-design seat featuring high-friction nubuck

textile and perforated leather keeps you firmly in place. In front of you, there’s the intuitive R-design

blue digital driver information display. And above you, the black inner roof creates an intimate

sporty ambience that puts you in the centre of the action.

Inspired by racing seats, the R-design seats feature seating surfaces in high-friction durable nubuck

textile. Together with the seat’s side support, this keeps you firmly in place even during high lateral

g-forces that come with inspired driving. Alternatively, the seating surfaces are in genuine nappa

leather with a natural feel that is soft to touch and which adds a luxurious sense to the interior.

Contrasting stitching enhances the sculpted seat design. And for the uncompromised sporty touch,

sections of the seats are upholstered in perforated leather that also are echoed in the handbrake

lever, gearshift gaiter and front centre armrest.

Combined with the load organiser mat including aluminium load dividers, you’ll keep everything well organised under the floor. And to help you keep other small items easily accessible under the parcel shelf, we have created a special compartment net.

Parcel shelf netMounted under the parcel shelf, this compartment net for loose items helps you maintain order in the load compartment while keeping them easily accessible when you need it.

Load organiser matThis gives you both a durable load mat and a smart organiser. Three moveable aluminium dividers allow you to create storage areas exactly as you want them. This organiser perfectly complements the two-level load compartment floor as you can keep your stuff well organised under the floor. It’s also available for cars with the standard load compartment floor.

Load carriersTo help you fully utilise the roof of your Volvo, we’ve developed a range of versatile load-carrying accessories. This system is designed to carry up to 75kg. Exterior Styling KitComprising a rear diffuser with double end pipes and side and rear deflectors, the Exterior Styling kit enhances the aerodynamic and dynamic looks of your V40.
