British films tends to focus on real life – mainly working class or people with little money to show the harsh reality of British living. They are usually problematic and tell life how it is. In addition, British film makers take the varied lifestyle of people to represent them in films, where American’s tend to only take a small percentage of the type of people in Britain (posh Londoners) which shows British people in a light that the majority of people aren’t under.

Funding

Government funding. Fund script development, film production, short films, film export and distribution, cinema and festivals. For distribution and exhibition, the UKFC work to make non-mainstream films more widely available to cinema audiences in the UK by multiple schemes. They provide money to help attract attention to lesser known films and their companies. Works closely with the BFI, helping create more money for British films.

Showed many UK films to help promote their own country’s movies. Helps support the films that have little recognition in the industry and have funded some films and TV. More recently, they also show American blockbusters as well.

A large quantity of them are able to have a big budget and so scenes can be used with CGI or able to go to exotic locations for filming. In many of American films, the harsh reality isn’t shown, giving the audience an escape to real life. Funding

The big 6 film production companies don’t have any trouble with their funding. With them being conglomerates, they are able to market their films easily to a wide audience, making it easier for them to make a profit. With them being million/billion dollars companies, their distribution costs aren’t usually an issue. However some of the companies use each other’s for distribution so it’s a little cheaper for the main company and the other company gets some of the profit.
