Briscoe Primary School & Nursery www.hearts-briscoe.uk Friday 20 th September 2019 Dear Parents and Carers, What a busy week we have had! There has been some amazing learning going on this week at Briscoe. Upper KS2 have been loving their class book ‘The Boy at the Back of the Class’ and have been really reflective about all the Hearts values that the book portrays. We can’t wait to read some of the writing that is sparked by reading this fantastic story. KS1 have been talking about aliens this week and have created some fabulous art using pastels after reading some alien based books. They are really out of this world! There are some tired faces in Reception today as they have completed their first full week at school! They have done really well to settle in so quickly and their brains are full of all the new phonic sounds and numbers they have been learning so far! Years 3 and 4 have been wonderful scientists this week exploring solids, liquids and gases. Ask them to give you some examples to test their knowledge. Finally, our youngest children have started back at school this week in The Orchard and Nursery. After a few tears (mostly from the grown-ups!) they have settled in beautifully and are beginning to understand the routines of school life. We know how hard our children and staff work at Briscoe and it was lovely to have this recognised by the Local Authority who wrote to us this week to congratulate us all on our amazing Year 6 results last year. They particularly mentioned the great progress the children made from KS1 which was above national and Essex expectations. Hard work really does pay off! Well done everyone! Have a lovely weekend.
