Thanks for all you do to help us focus all our resolve and resources on “Bringing People to Jesus to Know Him and Make Him Known!” through all our people, programs and property! Thanks for helping us push aside every “lesser thing” so we can bring the full-force and focus of Indian River City to his GREATER THING! The Bible says, “God reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation!” (2 Corinthians 5:18) Our mission is simply to pass on the same great Good News about God’s love that somebody told us! BBBBBUUUTTTT…God doesn’t ex- pect us to it all by ourselves! He gives us other Christians to serve alongside us! In fact…”Bringing People to Jesus!” is something we can do together as a Small Group! God gives you and me a wonderful example of this...it’s the story of a small group who brought someone in their world to Jesus! They couldn’t find a way to get into the house where Jesus was speaking, so they low- ered their friend through a hole in the roof, right in the middle of everyone and in front of Jesus! Jesus was really impressed by their faith and told their friend to get up and walk! Everybody was totally amazed and cheered wildly! Paul writes, “I planted the seed and Apollos watered it!” (1 Corinthians 3:6) Let’s play our part! PRINCIPLE OF CONFIDENCE! Jesus says the faith of the friends leads to him being healed! Nobody is beyond the reach of God’s love! Have faith to believe in what God wants to do and can do in the lives of others! PRINCIPLE OF COMPLETION! The friends could have been discouraged when they could not get through the door! They determined they were bringing their friend to Jesus and nothing was going to stop them! Are you and I willing to go through the roof for a friend?! Everybody needs to know Jesus! Bring People to Jesus to Know Him and Make Him Known!

Hi there! Wasn’t the Devotion great today?! HAPPY MARCH 2018! Thanks for joining us in our journey to

Easter! I hope you are having an incredible experience with Jesus “TODAY!” as you are coming to “know

Him” so that you can help us “make Him Known” to others in our congregation and community! Thanks for

all you do to help us focus all our resolve and resources on “Bringing People to Jesus to Know Him and Make

Him Known!” through all our people, programs and property! Thanks for helping us push aside every “lesser

thing” so we can bring the full-force and focus of Indian River City to his GREATER THING!

You and I have been tasked with the same mission that Jesus had! We are both here to “Bring People to Je-

sus to Know Him and Make Him Known!” throughout our little bit of the world! The Bible says, “God reconciled

us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation!” (2 Corinthians 5:18) Our mission is simply to pass

on the same great Good News about God’s love that somebody told us! BBBBBUUUTTTT…God doesn’t ex-

pect us to it all by ourselves! He gives us other Christians to serve alongside us! In fact…”Bringing People to

Jesus!” is something we can do together as a Small Group!

God gives you and me a wonderful example of this...it’s the story of a small group who brought someone in

their world to Jesus! They couldn’t find a way to get into the house where Jesus was speaking, so they low-

ered their friend through a hole in the roof, right in the middle of everyone and in front of Jesus! Jesus was

really impressed by their faith and told their friend to get up and walk! Everybody was totally amazed and

cheered wildly! In this story God gives us 4 principles for how our small groups can bring people to Jesus...

PRINCIPLE OF COMPASSION! This small group cared enough for a helpless friend to do something about his

need Mercy is not just some kind of feeling! Compassion is God’s love in action and they acted on it!

PRINCIPLE of COOPERATION! God has assigned you and me of a part in our task! We don’t have to do eve-

rything! Paul writes, “I planted the seed and Apollos watered it!” (1 Corinthians 3:6) Let’s play our part!

PRINCIPLE OF CONFIDENCE! Jesus says the faith of the friends leads to him being healed! Nobody is beyond

the reach of God’s love! Have faith to believe in what God wants to do and can do in the lives of others!

PRINCIPLE OF COMPLETION! The friends could have been discouraged when they could not get through the

door! They determined they were bringing their friend to Jesus and nothing was going to stop them!

Are you and I willing to go through the roof for a friend?! Everybody needs to know Jesus! The Bible says,

“The Lord is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance!” (2 Peter 3:9) Don’t

ever give up! Keep praying, keep asking, keep inviting and keep working to “Bring People to Jesus!”

For us to become more like Jesus we will “resolve to know nothing except Jesus Christ while we’re here!” (1

Corinthians 2:2) Let’s once again fix our ourselves on that one thing! We can more easily identify all the

“lesser things” that are stealing our time, talent and treasure from God’s GREATER THINGS! Let’s give all we

are and all we have to “Bring People to Jesus to Know Him and Make Him Known!”

Now that’s...RADICAL!

MARCH 2018 INDIAN RIVER CITY UMC NEWS

Overall, we ended January with $32,245.02 more in receipts than in expenditures. This is due in part to the timing of some gifts and expenses that occur in the first month of our fiscal year. However, it really is due to your faithful generosity to the min-istries of the church. Together we can do a lot more than we can do individually. Every dollar of your generosity combines with others to reach out to others not only in this congregation and community, but to the world. Even when you feel like your gift isn’t much, when added to the generosity of others it can grow like the loaves and fishes (Matt 14:13-21; John 6:1-14) to feed the ministries of our church. God truly blesses what we faith-fully give. Laurie Blair Church Accountant [email protected]
