This was a massive eort
by HOK where I was given
the distinct privilege to
lead the entire BIM eort
for a multi-oce,
multidiscipline project
from the design submission
model work that was
completed in Rhino to
the Construction
Documents that were
delivered to the
construction team in
Bahrain.

Even though the scope of this project was staggering and the
team often a little too disconnected for true eciency, I
worked closely with all of the greatest leaders in the BIM
world to make a model that could transfer among all the
oces cleanly. This did take some time to understand but
at the end of the project we were working in Revit, AutoCAD,
Tekla, Navisworks, Rhino and SketchUp and doing full
material takeos that were incredibly accurate.

NASA CAIL, Building 29 was an incredibly interesting project,
especially considering this was my rst project in Revit.
The building was very unique in its original construction as
it was intended to house the centrifuge testing facility.
This quickly taught me the limitations of BIM and when
the 60/40 modelling rule is most apparent. I modelled all of
the structural components on this building along with
the architectural. page 10 of 34
KAUST was a challenging project from its undertaking as a rm
split across four oces in the USA down to the extensive
coordination required among the disciplines that often occurs
in fast track projects. Showcased here is my rst work with
interference checking which I did solely in Revit and then
imaged in Photoshop.
KAUST was an incredible project with a diabolical amount of
equipment. The lab showcased in these nal construction
drawings was for a laser study laboratory that utilized an
incredible amount of custom equipment that was all rst
developed in our three dimensional BIM model for
space study.
These pages display the desire for clean execution of
construction documents within Revit.

My time in the medical equipment planning industry provided
a lot of opportunity for me to learn how to be a consultant,
work with a multitude of design related individuals in one of,
if not the most, complicated elds.
My time here still provided architectural work, rendering below
showcases some of my rendering ability put to use, and
allotted an incredible amount of time for me to master BIM
tools and their appropriate applications.

On this project I was
given the opportunity
to step out of my
conventional roles
and try my hand at
database design on
a network level and
human interaction
for the graphic
interface portion of
the project.
The project was never
put into use and was
abandoned due to
the company having
to close its doors but
the schematic work
done by me has been
greatly appreciated
by those in the
Medical Equipment
Planning eld.

BIM, CNC, Wiring, Design,
Metal&Wood Construction
LITE Beam was a class project for the Digital Fabrication class of 2005 where I
was responsible for the CNC cut les, electrical wiring and general construction.
This was a massive moment for the rest of my career as it generated all of my interests
in parametric design and BIM.

The Inversion Chair.
This project was an exploration in ergonomics,
CNC design and the use of modular furniture.
The completed sample below would have been
one piece that would be arrayed in a polar fashion
to create a semi-circle for lounge seating of 3-6
people. The schematic model image to the right
displays that nal idea.

University of Houston Master Plan Model. This project was comprised
of 7 large tables hat held all of the buildings of the campus and
projected master plan layout for the future. All of the buildings
were modelled, set to CNC cut les, glued into formation and
placed on the tables which were also cut to reveal lighting holes.

Burning Man Festival
I was the concept design lead and structural CNC productionist. The top
image was the completed project at the festival and the bottom image
was the rendering used to submit the project for grant money. page 25 of 34
This project had many
challenges for CNC
work but it proved to
remain interesting and
full of reward.
Utilizing the shape
of a pentagon for the
main geometry of the
tower and then having
the tower taper made
the connections all
very unique but
operating with
parametric control
on the design made
the process fairly
simple. Images

This project best shows my complete set of abilities.
The story of Houston CORE at Burning Man 2012.
The images of the story start on the previous page.
This project started conceptually with a clay model
that was captured with photogrammetry via
Audodesk 123D catch that I then developed into a
3D Rhino model to understand the structural forces
that then produced the 90 CNC cut les that our
team built here in Houston rst, skinned with
recycled scrap wood and then delivered to
Black Rock City to be built in the Nevada desert
and burned after a glorious showing in the chosen
circle of regional egies.
The team was comprised of about 30
other individuals who are all project
enthusiasts who wanted to complete
something challenging for the ne
honor we received to represent the city
of Houston.
This project covered a wide array of
jobs from marketing/fund-raising
to full construction, assembly and
transportation. It was a wonderful
experience of total design.

Graphic
Work
In my pursuit of great design,
graphic delivery is always a
deep consideration of mine
that I try to push, keep original
and full of organized chaos.
These examples are just a few
of my selected projects from
which I have many over the
years. Clean communication,
problem solving and
simplifying massive data
are my graphic motivators.
